Job Summary: GAIN is seeking to recruit a Senior Associate, Finance to provide day-to-day coordination of the Country Office finance function, ensuring accurate financial processing, strong budget control, timely donor reporting, and compliance with organisational policies, donor requirements, and statutory regulations. Reporting to the Country Director with a functional and supervisory working relationship with the global finance team, the role serves as the primary finance focal point for the Country Office. The Senior Associate, Finance works closely with programme teams, Project Managers, and the global finance team to ensure effective financial planning, monitoring, and reporting to support programme delivery. The role also acts as focal point for coordination of HR administration and legal/statutory compliance matters, working in close liaison with global HR team to ensure appropriate systems and processes are followed.
This role will be offered on a one (1) year fixed term contract, subject to availability of funding and will be based in Kampala, Uganda. This advert closes on 22nd August 2026 . Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Liaise with the global finance team on all financial management, reporting, compliance, and control matters.
- Process payments and ensure all supporting documentation is complete, accurate, and compliant with organisational policies and donor requirements.
- Maintain accurate financial records, including ledgers, supporting documentation, reconciliations, and filing systems in line with audit standards.
- Process payroll and statutory payments in coordination with the global finance team and HR, ensuring compliance with local legislation and organisational procedures.
- Liaise with the global Legal Team and local counsel on legal and statutory compliance matters.
- Ensure the Country Office meets statutory requirements, including annual filings, registrations, and regulatory submissions.
- Act as Country Office focal point for HR administration, liaising with the global HR on onboarding, staff exits, and personnel administration processes.
- Support payroll preparation in coordination with global HR and Finance teams.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal candidate should be technically strong to manage the day-to-day finance function independently, while also being procedurally and operationally aware to provide finance business partnering support to programme teams.
- The role requires someone who can move comfortably between detailed transactional work—such as payment processing, reconciliations and payroll and higher-level responsibilities such as budget analysis, forecasting, donor reporting, audit coordination, financial risk management and proposal budgeting.
- Most importantly, the candidate should demonstrate integrity, accuracy, ownership, strong coordination skills, and the confidence to provide constructive financial advice and challenge where necessary, while recognising and respecting the organisation’s Delegation of Authority and global finance structures.
- You should be a finance professional holding accounting qualifications such as CPA, ACCA, CIMA. Experience within non-profit sector or other donor-funded environment preferred.
