Established 30 years ago as Biyinzika, BPIL has grown from small beginnings to a company with over 9?5 employees stationed in over 9 production sites. BPIL produces and distributes quality day-old chicks and HACCP certified animal feed through over 40 branches within Uganda and the East African region. BPIL also produces chicken meat products under the Pearl Chicken brand retailed directly through our 30 Pearl chicken shops. Pearl also supplies leading wholesale, retail and food service customers with quality Ugandan National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) certified products.
Job Summary: To ensure that the quality and accuracy of laboratory results and support the overall effectiveness of the laboratory’s quality management system. The position holder will manage the BPUL records under the policies, rules, regulations and guidelines of BPUL while ensuring the accomplishment of goals and targets given by management.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Expedite critical testing results without compromising sample validity or quality assurance
- Perform laboratory analyses to provide data for diagnosis, treatment and prevention of poultry diseases
- Stringently follow laboratory protocols (good laboratory practices), sanitation standards and testing procedures
- Sample preparation, testing, labeling, storage and disposal.
- Test method execution in accordance to approved methods and procedures.
- Operating and maintaining laboratory instruments and equipment.
- Data recording and reporting with accuracy including calculations and interpretations.
- Participating in quality control activities, monitoring and controlling laboratory processes.
- Assisting in the calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
- Housekeeping and safety by maintaining a clean and safe working environment.
- Continuous training and development by participating in ongoing training and development to maintain competence and stay UpToDate with new technologies and procedures.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor of science in Biochemistry, biomedical laboratory technology, veterinary medicine, Food science & Technology, Biology/ Chemistry
- Fresh Graduate ( Exposure to ELISA technique is of high added advantage)
- Serology/immunology, routine cultures microscopy (gram staining, smears etc.)
- Excellent time management
- Excellent communication skills
- Capable of continuously standing for up to two hours
- Specific vision abilities required include; close vision, cloud vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Extended working hours maybe required.
- Computer skills
