Job Title: Logistics Volunteer

Duty Station: Kampala, Uganda

About Organisation:

Africa Youth Forum International (AYFI) is a pan-African, youth-led initiative focusing on youth participation, entrepreneurship, education, and leadership development in alignment with African Union goals. It connects young leaders across countries like Uganda, Ethiopia, and Ghana through hybrid and in-person events.

Job Summary: The Volunteer will support the planning, coordination, and successful execution of the High-Level Youth Dialogue with Policy-Makers Summit. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, the volunteer will contribute to event operations, stakeholder engagement, communications, logistics, documentation, research, and other assigned functions to ensure the smooth delivery of summit activities.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Volunteers will be assigned responsibilities based on their skills, experience, and operational requirements while upholding professionalism, teamwork, and the values of the African Youth Forum and its partners.
  • Support the planning and implementation of summit activities and events.
  • Carry out duties assigned by the Volunteer Coordinator or Team Lead.
  • Collaborate effectively with fellow volunteers, staff, speakers, delegates, and partners.
  • Maintain professional conduct and represent the organizing institutions positively.
  • Assist with participant registration, information services, and guest support where required.
  • Ensure timely completion of assigned tasks and responsibilities.
  • Participate in volunteer orientation, training sessions, and briefing meetings.
  • Support communication and coordination before, during, and after the summit.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information encountered during volunteer service.
  • Assist in preparing reports, documentation, and event records where applicable.
  • Adhere to event policies, safety procedures, and operational guidelines.
  • Demonstrate flexibility by supporting multiple functions when operationally required.
  • Perform any other duties assigned in support of the successful delivery of the summit.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

Applicants should possess:

  • Diploma or bachelor’s degree, or be a current student, in a relevant field.
  • Strong interest in youth leadership, governance, policy, development, or event management.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in diverse and multicultural teams.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Positive attitude, professionalism, and willingness to learn.
  • Basic computer literacy, including Microsoft Office or Google Workspace.
  • Fluency in English; additional languages are an advantage for translation and international engagement roles.

  • Some roles may require standing for extended periods or moving event materials.
