Job Title: EV Design and Projects Supervision Engineer

Founded in 2024, the climate technology firm manufactures and sells electric motorcycles and e-bikes, and operates a rapidly growing network of 24/7 automated battery-swapping stations across major urban nodes.
Job Summary: The Design and Projects Engineer at Yongeza is be responsible for design. installation, quality control of the EV charging / swaps infrastructure. In addition, the position-holder is responsible for overall project management of site roll-outs. The role works in close collaboration with the 0&M team to ensure proper commissioning. handover and integration of new sites, energy solutions and innovations.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Planning locations for new EV charge/swap stations – surveys.
- Lead the design process and team for new installations and expanding existing ones.
- Project supervision,
- Ensure full compliance with international EV charging/swapping standard, relevant national codes and best practices.
- Ensure that all installations are safe for users, equipment and neighbourhood.
- Design or guide designs of solar PV for EV stations.
- Design must always consider energy efficiency, environment and sustainability.
- Design quality management processes for site-builds.
- Supervise station-build contractors.
- Commissioning and acceptance checks for newly-installed stations.
- Ensure complete project documentation.
- Train Technicians and Junior Engineers.
- Responsible for managing Proof-of-concept projects of new technologies and initiatives.
- Provide oversight for IOT/remote-monitoring solutions.
- Oversee grid extension initiatives to existing and new swap/charging sites
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- BSc. Electrical, Power Engineering or other related fields.
- 5+ years hands-on experience doing electrical designs, installations and project management.
- A member of the Uganda Institution of Professional Engineers.
- A holder of Class C Electrical Installations permit.
- Proficiency in AUTOCAD and other electrical drawing software.
- Experience working with Lithium-ion batteries is an advantage.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience in managing contractors is an added advantage.
