Job Summary: This is a full-time, on-site Tax Manager role based in Kampala, Uganda. The Tax Manager will oversee tax planning, compliance, and preparation activities for a portfolio of clients, ensuring accurate and timely filing of tax returns and adherence to local and international tax regulations. Responsibilities include reviewing complex tax computations, providing technical guidance on tax law, managing tax audits and inquiries, and identifying tax optimization opportunities. The role involves supervising and mentoring tax staff, coordinating with audit and advisory teams, preparing high-quality client reports, and maintaining strong client relationships. The Tax Manager will also monitor regulatory changes, contribute to internal knowledge sharing, and support business development initiatives related to tax services.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Strong tax planning and tax optimization skills, with the ability to develop efficient tax strategies for diverse clients.
- Demonstrated expertise in tax compliance and tax preparation, including managing filings, deadlines, and documentation requirements.
- Thorough understanding of tax law and tax regulations, with experience interpreting and applying complex rules to client situations.
- Broad tax knowledge across corporate and individual tax, with the ability to handle multi-jurisdictional tax issues.
- Professional qualification such as CPA, ACCA, or an equivalent, and a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
- Several years of progressive experience in tax management or a senior tax role within a professional services or corporate environment.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and numerical skills, with high attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proven leadership and team management capabilities, including mentoring, workload planning, and performance oversight.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical tax matters to non-specialist stakeholders.
- High integrity, commitment to ethical standards, and ability to work in a fast-paced, client-focused environment.
