Job Summary: The Store Keeper at GS Group Uganda is responsible for receiving, storing, and issuing materials used in site operations and batching plant operations. This role ensures accurate inventory management, proper labelling and storage of materials including perishable and hazardous goods, and assists in monthly audits and stock reconciliation to support efficient plant functioning.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Receive, inspect, and verify materials delivered to the batching plant against purchase orders.
- Store materials in designated locations using proper storage techniques that maintain quality and safety (e.g., FIFO for perishables).
- Issue materials timely to production departments or site personnel following proper procedures and authorization.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date inventory records, receipts, and dispatch logs using inventory management systems.
- Monitor stock levels continuously and initiate timely replenishment requests to avoid shortages.
- Ensure proper labeling of hazardous and perishable goods according to safety standards.
- Assist in conducting monthly physical stock audits and reconciliations, reporting discrepancies promptly.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the storage area to promote safe and efficient operations.
- Comply with health, safety, and environmental guidelines in handling and storage of materials.
- Coordinate with suppliers, transporters, and internal teams to ensure smooth material flow and timely deliveries.
- Perform any additional related tasks as assigned by supervisors or management.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
Education & Experience
- Diploma in Logistics, Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering or related field.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in storekeeping, warehouse management, or inventory control, preferably in batching plants or construction-related industries.
- Familiarity with stock management systems and inventory software.
- Basic knowledge of safety, handling procedures for a variety of materials including hazardous goods.
- Proficient in inventory management, record-keeping, and stock control techniques.
- Skilled in auditing stock and reconciling inventory records.
- Knowledge of storage standards for perishable and hazardous materials.
- Ability to use computerized inventory and warehouse management systems.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to maintain accurate and orderly inventory.
- Good communication and coordination abilities to liaise effectively with suppliers and internal departments.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic production environment.
- Commitment to maintaining safety and quality standards in store operations.
