Founded in 2014, Women in Technology Uganda (WITU) is a non-profit started by women for women. The goal of the organization is to transform the lives of women and girls from underserved communities into successful technologists and entrepreneurs. We achieve this through carefully working with communities and their people to bring lasting change.




Job Summary: WITU therefore seeks a Program Officer to support the effective planning, implementation, coordination, monitoring, and reporting of WITU programs, particularly under the Digital Job Center initiative. The role is central to ensuring that program activities are delivered efficiently, within scope and budget, while achieving intended outcomes for program participants and stakeholders. The program officer will be reporting to the Program Manager and who will be the point of contact on the contract.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Program Planning and Implementation

  • Lead the development of program work plans, budgets, and implementation schedules.
  • Coordinate day-to-day program activities in line with approved plans.
  • Ensure timely delivery of program outputs and outcomes.
  • Lead community engagement and beneficiary mobilizationactivities.

Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL)

  • Ensure data collection, documentation, and reporting against program indicators.
  • Track program progress and identify implementation challenges and lessons learned.
  • Participate in preparing periodic progress reports for management and donors.
  • Participate in program reviews, evaluations, and learning sessions.

Stakeholder and Partner Coordination

  • Liaise with implementing partners, facilitators, trainers, and service providers.
  • Ensure coordination with local leaders, government entities, and community stakeholders.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with beneficiaries and partners.

Financial and Administrative Support

  • Ensure budget tracking and ensure program expenditures align with approved budgets.
  • Participate in procurement processes and documentation related to program activities.
  • Ensure proper filing and record keeping of program documents.

Safeguarding and Compliance

  • Ensure program activities comply with organizational policies, safeguarding standards, and donor requirements.
  • Promote gender equality, inclusion, and accountability to beneficiaries.
  • Report any safeguarding, protection, or compliance concerns in line with organizational procedures.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:




  • Bachelor’s degree in development studies, Social Sciences, Business Administration, or a related field (master’s degree is an added advantage).
  • At least 3-4 years of relevant experience in program or project coordination, preferably within an NGO or development context.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Project Management Institute (PMI) frameworks and Results-Based Management (RBM) principles.
  • Experience supporting donor-funded programs is an added advantage.
  • Strong program coordination and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks effectively
  • Report writing and documentation skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based environment
