Rural Development Foundation Uganda (RDF) is a community-driven organisation based in Masaka, Uganda. They are dedicated to empowering rural communities through financial inclusion, education, and sustainable development. RDF offers agriculture-friendly credit facilities, financial literacy and education, and community-led development initiatives to uplift underserved communities and break the cycle of poverty.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- The Graduate Trainee, Field Program is a full-time, on-site role based in Masaka, supporting RDF’s field programs across Masaka, Kyotera, Sanje, and nearby areas.
- The trainee will work closely with field officers to support community mobilisation, client onboarding, savings group engagement, financial literacy activities, client follow-ups, and basic field reporting.
- The role includes collecting client and enterprise data, assisting with loan application and documentation processes, supporting client training sessions, and helping monitor how clients use loans and financed assets through regular field visits.
- The trainee will also help document success stories, prepare simple field reports, and share community feedback to improve RDF’s products, services, and field delivery.
- This is a practical learning opportunity for recent graduates or final-year students who want to build a long-term career in rural development, financial inclusion, microfinance, or development finance.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Recent graduate or final-year student in Development Studies, Social Sciences, Agriculture, Economics, Business, Finance, or a related field.
- Foundational knowledge or strong interest in rural development, microfinance, agriculture, clean energy, WASH, or community development.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to engage respectfully with clients, community groups, and local leaders.
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English. Proficiency in relevant local languages is an added advantage.
- Basic analytical and problem-solving skills, including comfort working with numbers and simple data collection tools.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications such as MS Word, Excel, and email.
- Willingness to learn digital data collection tools and field reporting systems.
- Demonstrated integrity, reliability, and commitment to serving underserved rural communities.
- Willingness to travel frequently within assigned field locations and work in rural environments.
- Residency in Masaka or willingness to relocate to Masaka is strongly preferred.
- Previous volunteer, internship, or community engagement experience is an added advantage.
