Job Summary: The Driver is responsible for providing reliable and safe transportation services for project staff, visitors, and goods. The role ensures the strict adherence to traffic laws and organizational safety procedures, and includes the day-to-day maintenance and cleanliness of the assigned vehicle(s).
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Driving & Safety:
- Drive project vehicles safely and defensively at all times.
- Ensure passengers wear seatbelts and adhere to safety regulations.
- Strictly follow established traffic rules and organizational driving policies.
Vehicle Maintenance:
- Perform daily checks of the vehicle (oil, water, tires, lights, brakes).
- Ensure the vehicle is always clean and in good mechanical condition.
- Report any mechanical issues immediately and arrange for servicing/repairs as authorized.
Logistics Support:
- Transport staff, documents, and supplies to designated locations.
- Assist with the loading and unloading of goods.
- Maintain accurate vehicle logbooks, recording trips, mileage, and fuel consumption.
Communication & Conduct:
- Maintain a professional demeanor and punctuality.
- Keep radio or mobile communication active to stay in contact with the office.
- Represent the organization positively in interactions with the public.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
Education:
- Completion of secondary education (High School Diploma).
License:
- Valid and clean national driving license (Class [Insert appropriate class]).
Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of professional driving experience, preferably with an NGO, UN agency, or international organization.
- Defensive driving certificate is required. Basic mechanical knowledge is a strong advantage. Ability to read maps and navigate routes effectively.
Languages:
- Fluency in [Local Language]; working knowledge of English is an advantage.
