Job Summary: The primary role of a Simu Investigations Supervisor is responsible for all field operations related to Simu in their designated area. They must lead a team of field officers, support and coach them on effective case management, as well as actively participate in own field work.

This position is responsible for liaising with the Legal team to sanction cases, push for legal outcome and ensuring all case details and comments are up to date

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitors various Portfolio quality KPIs and Data Points regularly to detect quality concerns at Dealer, Agent and Client level.
  • Works closely and creatively with the SIMU product, backend and commercial teams to identify fraud leads for further investigation.
  • Manage the investigation process for cases assigned, ensuring they are executed in a speedy manner, at a high legal standard and with the highest levels of efficiency.
  • Leverages police, intelligence and local contacts to gather formal evidence, remotely as well as on the ground through client or witness’s visits, surveillance and interviews
  • Works closely with the Watu legal team to prepare robust legal cases against fraudsters leading to successful sanctioning and prosecution.
  • Plan operations in conjunction with internal and external teams on a daily & weekly basis in coordination with the Legal team.
  • Execute operations with the support of law enforcement officers when required.
  • Recover stolen assets and return them to the Watu Branch.
  • Assist the Legal team throughout the prosecution process with evidence and statements
  • Attend court and other legal proceedings to provide evidence on matters relating to the work of the organization as may be required
  • Daily reporting of the day’s performance to be submitted to the relevant channels. Be ready to at any point in time discuss the progress of cases and individual suspects.
  • Develop initiatives to prevent, detect, investigate and respond to fraud related incidents within the Simu space, including through changes in KYC, on-boarding process, arrests, prosecutions
  • Develop a strong local network to aid with operations, including by visiting Police stations, hacking hot spots.
  • Engage dealers, support them if management asks to and represent Watu in external meetings where required.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:




  • The candidate must have been a part of Watu for a minimum of 1 year
  • Must have zero indiscipline record with NO warning letter (s)
  • Fluency in Lusoga, Lugishu, Luganda Swahili, or other widely spoken languages in the Eastern region is required to effectively engage with local communities.
  • Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Results driven and Customer service attitude — friendly, polite, good listener, uses initiative
  • The ability to deal with difficult clients or customers Self-motivated
  • Excellent organizational and Computer skills such as Ms. word, Excel, Google Sheets, PowerPoint etc.
  • Leadership and human resources management skills
  • Team player, Leadership and analytical skills
  • Reporting skills and deadline-driven
