Job Title: Laboratory Technician

About Organisation:
The Law Development Centre (LDC) is the premier government-owned institution of higher learning responsible for providing practical legal education in Uganda. Established in 1970 under the Law Development Centre Act, it holds the exclusive mandate to offer the postgraduate Bar Course required for practicing law in the country.
Job Summary: To examine human body fluids and tissues for abnormal chemical levels, cells or bacteria at the LDC Medical unit.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- To carry out laboratory investigations and submit to the Clinicians for management.
- To collect and handle specimen.
- To perform external control and send back results to UVRI for assessment.
- Preparation of stock reagents from which daily reagents are obtained.
- To carry out daily equipment maintenance and service every 6 months.
- To prepare standard operating procedures.
- To requisition for lab supplies.
- To segregate waste.
- To observe safety precautions.
- To participate in research activities.
- To perform any other duties assigned by the Medical Officer.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Diploma in Medical Laboratory technology (Hon) degree.
- At least two (2) years’ experience as a Laboratory Technician.
- High level of integrity and confidentiality.
- Professionalism.
- ICT and digital literacy.
- Interpersonal relationship skills.
- Effective communication skills.
- Attention to detail.
