Job Summary: OvrtiLabs Tech Systems is assembling a project team for a major agricultural digitisation assignment in. We are seeking an experienced IT Expert to own the technical workstream.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support design, validation, and operationalisation of the unified digital climate data platform for UAIS
- Develop and integrate data pipelines, APIs, and platform modules connecting weather, yield, soil, crop, and actuarial datasets
- Build API connectivity with government institutions including MoFPED, IRA, BOU, and AIC
- Support pilot deployment and user onboarding across selected districts
- Generate geospatial outputs including land use maps, weather-based risk layers, and underwriting analytics
- Develop user manuals, administrator guides, and technical documentation
- Provide troubleshooting and continuous improvement support throughout the project
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Geographical Information Systems, or Environmental Science
- 4–6 years relevant experience in geospatial data analysis, remote sensing, or environmental risk assessment preferably in Uganda
- Proven capability deploying and managing cloud-based infrastructure on AWS, Azure, or GCP
- Experience with data engineering tools including SQL, Python, and Spark
- Proficiency in geospatial and analytics tools including ArcGIS, QGIS, Power BI, or Tableau
- Demonstrated experience in AgTech or InsurTech solutions for agricultural insurance delivery
- Proven ability developing and integrating data pipelines and digital platforms supporting farmer enrollment, risk assessment, and claims
- Ability to translate technical outputs for non-technical stakeholders
- Fluency in written and spoken English
- Familiarity with UAIS data environments
- Experience with satellite-based crop monitoring or climate risk data
