Job Summary: Based in Kampala, this position is central to the missionaries’ role to ‘Invite others to come unto Christ by helping them receive the restored gospel through faith in Jesus Christ and His Atonement, repentance, baptism, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end. Mission drivers are support, entry level, individual contributors that shuttle missionaries to local appointments, airport departures and other needed locations. Drivers ensure fleet vehicles are properly inspected and maintained. Hours may fluctuate and drivers many be on call each week and on weekends. May be required to obtain a Commercial Drivers License (CDL).
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Safely transports missionaries through a variety of vehicles which may include large buses.
- Take care of the vehicles by regularly cleaning, servicing, and ensuring the proper maintenance and repairs are conducted by the proper certified technicians
- Adheres to all federal and state transportation laws and safe procedures.
- Assist with daily vehicle inspection to ensure optimum performance and operations
- Transport people and deliver goods to destination safely applying knowledge of driving regulations and road s in area in accordance with instruction given.
- Maintains vehicle logs and performs basic performance.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Must be worthy of a temple recommend
- Requires high school education or equivalent
- Two years of previous work experience
- One year previous driving experience , a good driving record and a safety mind
- Must possess an appropriate driver’s license
- Basic knowledge of auto mechanics
- Ability to follow direction and/or maps
- Basic reading, maths and communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to care for and highly regard church vehicle and equipment.
