About Organisation:
The Uganda Veterinary Council (UVC) is the national statutory body mandated to regulate veterinary practice, establish professional standards, and license all veterinary practitioners and establishments across Uganda. Operating as an autonomous entity under the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries (MAAIF), the UVC plays a critical role in safeguarding public health, animal welfare, and food safety standards.
Job Summary: The Chief Executive Officer is responsible for providing strategic leadership, regulator)’ oversight, operational and institutional management necessary to ensure effective implementation of the UVC mandate as enshrined in the Veterinary Practitioners’ Act, 2024
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- An honour’s Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Medicine from a recognised University/Institution
- A Masters in either Veterinary Medicine, Animal Health, Livestock Development, Planning and management, Science in Agricultural Sciences (Animal Production Management) from a recognized University/Institution.
- Must be registered with the Uganda Veterinary Council
Experience
- At least twelve (12) years of relevant working experience in the field of animal resources, three (3) of which should have been at the level of Commissioner or at a Senior Management level in Government or reputable organization.
