The Uganda Cancer Society (UCS) is a nationwide, community-based umbrella organization that coordinates over 45 civil society organizations to eliminate cancer and optimize patient care across Uganda. Founded in 2011, UCS collaborates with key national bodies like the Uganda Cancer Institute (UCI) to advance patient support, public awareness, and evidence-based policy advocacy.
Job Summary: Uganda Cancer Society (UCS) is looking to recruit a dynamic individual to provide general office support. The successful candidate will report to the Finance and Administration Officer (FAO) and is expected to uphold UCS’s policies and workplace culture at all times.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Greet visitors in person or by phone, answering or directing inquiries.
- Provide information regarding UCS’s work and personnel availability.
- Assist in scheduling, rescheduling, and canceling appointments.
- Update employee attendance and maintain visitor records.
- Take and file minutes of meetings.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Sort and distribute incoming mail.
- Manage and order office supplies and equipment.
- Support the delivery of letters and correspondence.
- Support all UCS staff in the different departments.
- Assist in field operations of the Secretariat in coordination with UCS members.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Diploma in a relevant field such as Business Administration, Office Management, or Secretarial Studies.
- General knowledge and experience in the cancer sector is an added advantage.
- Membership in UCS is an added advantage.
Experience:
- Minimum of 1 year of work experience in general office or program support.
Competencies/Personal Attributes:
- Sensitivity to diversity in a busy work environment.
- Strong coordination, communication, and interpersonal skills.
