Job Summary: The Intake Quality Lead plays a key role in supporting day-to-day operations involving sampling, analysis and reporting to facilitate the purchasing of Robusta coffee.
Guide and offer leadership to the Intake quality team and manage the intake Quality laboratory.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct timely and accurate quality analysis of Robusta coffees for purchasing, and other purposes, and prepare necessary reports.
- Maintain cleanliness and proper housekeeping practices at the Intake laboratory
- Maintain custody of stock reference samples from purchases for a specified period.
- Observe and guide the team on food safety requirements as well OSH practices
- Collaborate with different Departments to ensure proper flow of activities
- Proper handling of coffee analysis equipment and ensure they are calibrated and serviced routinely and in time.
- Perform any other duties assigned by Management
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Proficient in English and any other local languages.
- Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Food Science, Agriculture, Agronomy, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of experience in quality control, preferably in the coffee processing industry
- Experience in Robusta coffee quality assessment, grading and certification processes is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with Robusta coffee grading standards and quality control procedures.
- Strong analytical skills to evaluate coffee quality and detect defects.
- Willingness to travel to off-site stations such as warehouses, suppliers and production facilities as required from time to time.
- Experience in primary processing of Arabica coffee is an added advantage
