Job Title: Assistant Quality Manager

Job Summary: For our group company, Ibero Uganda Limited, we are looking for an Assistant Quality Manager.
The position will be based in Uganda and reports directly to the Quality Manager.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage and report on inventory to provide guidance to relevant departments
- Conduct timely and accurate quality analysis of Robusta and Arabica coffees for purchasing, shipment, and other purposes, and prepare necessary reports
- Prepare and dispatch samples (including types, offers, approvals/PSS, and shipments) to clients, maintaining detailed records for reference
- Issue coffee processing instructions according to customer & UCDA specifications
- Maintain cleanliness and proper housekeeping practices in the laboratory and sample room
- Overseeing the daily operations of the sample room and quality lab
- Monitor coffee processing to ensure adherence to issued instructions
- Prepare for and participate in clients’ cupping sessions
- Allocate coffees to contracts in coordination with the warehouse manager/team and in close consultation with the Quality Manager
- Profile & record coffee stocks and maintain custody of stock reference samples
- Undertake any other official duties assigned by the Quality Manager or company management.
- Provide coffee quality and food safety training to subordinate staff, as guided by the Quality Manager
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Proficient in English and any other local languages.
- Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Food Science, Agriculture, Agronomy, or a related field.
- At least 3-5 years of experience in Coffee Quality Control
- Experience with coffee quality assessment, grading, and certification processes
- Familiarity with coffee grading standards and quality control procedures.
- Strong analytical skills to evaluate coffee quality and detect defects
- Willingness to travel to off-site stations such as warehouses, suppliers and production facilities as required from time to time
- Experience in primary processing of Arabica coffee is an added advantage
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft office/ Excel
