Yalelo (U) Limited is a tilapia fish farm that was established in Uganda in 2019. The farm is located in Butembe, Buikwe district on the shores of Lake Victoria. Yalelo Uganda is a subsidiary of First Wave Group B.V; a Dutch company with a portfolio of aquaculture related assets in Africa. First Wave Group owns and operates Yalelo Zambia, a pioneer of Aquaculture founded in 2011 that has grown quickly to become the leading fish farm in Zambia and among the largest aquaculture farms in Africa.
Job Summary: Responsible in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of outboard motor systems, ensuring optimal performance and reliability for proper operation of the marine motors and vessels.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform diagnostic tests on outboard motors to identify mechanical, electrical, and transmission systems failures.
- Execute repairs on a variety of outboard motor systems, including fuel systems, ignition systems, cooling systems and powerheads.
- Conduct routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, filter replacements, and adjustments to ensure engines are running efficiently.
- Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot complex mechanical problems and develop effective solutions.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs and services performed, ensuring compliance with safety and quality regulations.
- Educate outboard operators proper operating procedures, maintenance practices and provide recommendations for prolonging engine life.
- Perform business management duties such as maintaining records and files, preparing reports and carrying out proper stock inventory of outboard engine spares
- Makes requisitions for Outboard engine spares required.
- Plan and develop work schedules, equipment usage schedules and procedure for equipment and appliance maintenance.
- Promote and maintain good housekeeping practices.
- Perform diagnostic tests on outboard motors to identify mechanical, electrical, and transmission systems.
- Any other duties assigned by the Supervisor.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Ordinary certificate (Senior Four) and must be able to read and write.
- Two (2) years and above of experience as a mechanic, with a focus on outboard motors and marine propulsion systems.
- Proficient in diagnosing and repairing two-stroke and four-stroke outboard engines.
- Strong understanding of marine electrical systems and troubleshooting techniques.
- Experience with specific brands such as Yamaha Outboard motors.
- Familiarity with advanced diagnostic tools and software.
- Ability to swim or learn swimming
Required Technical Skills, Training & Experience
- Proficient in the use of hand and power tools specific to marine mechanics.
- Knowledge of marine electronics, including GPS and sonar systems.
- Experience with transmission, hydraulic systems and troubleshooting.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to handle multi-task and work effectively in a fast-paced working environment
- Effective communication skills, with a customer-oriented approach.
- A proactive attitude and a willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies.
- Must be good at applying creativity and innovative skills in managing projects.
- Possess strong mathematical and troubleshooting skills.
- Self-motivated with excellent personnel management skill
