Job Summary: The purpose of this role is to plan, implement, monitor, and continuously improve environmental management systems and practices to ensure regulatory compliance, minimise environmental risks, and support sustainable

manufacturing operations.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Implement and monitor environmental management systems (EMS) in line with company policies and ISO 14001 requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental laws, permits, licences, and regulatory requirements applicable to manufacturing operations.
  • Conduct routine environmental inspections, audits, and monitoring of emissions, effluents, waste, noise, and resource usage.
  • Monitor water, energy, fuel, and raw material consumption and identify opportunities for reduction and efficiency improvement.
  • Oversee waste management processes including segregation, storage, handling, recycling, and disposal.
  • Coordinate environmental sampling, testing, and analysis with accredited laboratories.
  • Investigate environmental incidents, non-conformances, and complaints, and conduct root cause analysis (RCA);
  • Develop and track corrective and preventive action plans to address environmental risks and audit findings.
  • Prepare and submit environmental reports to internal management and regulatory authorities within required timelines.
  • Maintain accurate environmental records, registers, and documentation.
  • Support environmental impact assessments (EIA), risk assessments, and permit renewals.
  • Conduct environmental awareness and training programs for employees and contractors.
  • Advise operations teams on environmentally responsible practices and process improvements.
  • Participate in sustainability initiatives, projects, and continuous improvement programs.
  • Liaise with regulators, auditors, and external stakeholders during inspections and audits.
  • Ensure integration of environmental controls into daily manufacturing operations.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor from time to time.
  • Financial Management
  • Monitor and ensure zero waste of across the different Environmental processes.
  • Risk Management
  • Identify the department’s risks, their various mitigations and keep track of them.
  • Compliance
  • Ensure regulatory compliance in execution of activities within Uganda
  • Adherence to all Movit Group and In Country Policies and Procedures.
  • Prepare and submit location daily report.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:




  • Hold a bachelor’s degree in Environmental/Mechanical Engineering.
  • Certificate in NEBOSH/IOSH is an added advantage.
  • Knowledge of relevant OHS legislation.
  • Knowledge of ISO 45001.
  • Awareness in occupational health & safety.

Related Minimum Experience:

  • 3 to 5 years relevant experience in FMCG
  • Industry preferably in a similar role.
