Job Summary: The Quality Control Officer shall ensure that products are consistently produced and controlled to the Quality standards by implementing good manufacturing practices, good laboratory practices, performing relevant laboratory checks, In-process Quality Checks (IPQC) and ensuring compliance to the standard operating procedures.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Shall carry out verification and validation of Tests methods.
- Shall carry out analysis of results.
- Shall report results.
- Shall monitor, control, and record environmental conditions in accordance with relevant specifications, methods, or procedures or where they influence the validity of the results.
- Shall prepare procedures for performing the laboratory activities and monitoring and ensuring validity of results.
- Shall update the status labels as per procedure of all equipment, materials and/ or rooms.
- Shall be responsible of reception on samples and recording before analysis.
- Shall be responsible for carrying out sampling of raw materials and packaging materials following the correct sampling techniques, using correct sampling tools and safe transportation of samples to the laboratory.
- Shall be responsible for testing and analysing of raw materials, packaging materials, bulk products and finished goods against the approved specification and following approved test methods.
- Shall Carry out process water analysis.
- Shall Carry out microbiological tests.
- Shall carry out wastewater analysis.
- Shall establish, maintain, and adhere to Good Laboratory practices, laboratory rules, 5Ss for proper housekeeping, use of PPEs, Data Integrity, impartiality, and other laboratory policies.
- Monitor and maintain compliance with respect to GMP and legal requirements.
- Shall perform daily inspections to monitor the implementation of the standard Operating procedures and compliance to good manufacturing practices.
- Responsible to identify non-conformances and provide technical information on shopfloor and in system through routine walkthroughs.
- Ensure timely completion of batch manufacturing records and its review to facilitate quality decision on the product.
- Lead failure investigations related to shop floor non-conformances to identify root cause and appropriate mitigation action plan.
- Shall coordinate and participate in handling of all unplanned deviations (incidents, non-conformances, discrepancies, Out of Specification) and carrying out the quality investigations using the right best tools and compiling the CAPA report and monitor timely closeout of CAPA related to failure investigations and ensure its effectiveness.
- Inspection of returned goods for proper decision making.
- Facilitate certification programs by organizing for testing of samples and registration by Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS)
- Train production staff in GMP, company safety policies, line inspection, and visual packaging procedures of finished products.
- Analyse records of production returns to identify specific problems and the return trends.
- Shall document and review all planned deviations and change controls before forwarding them to the supervisor.
- Responsible for coordination and carrying out of training activities to both new and existing employees as per the schedules and maintaining training records.
- Responsible for issuance of the Batch Manufacturing Records upon receipt of the manufacturing and retrieving them once fully filled at completion of the process for review and archival.
- Prepare weekly and monthly Quality Report using the suitable statistical tools to analyse the performance of our processes/products and report any abnormalities observed or anticipated.
- Champion effective Problem Solving, Continuous Improvement and Innovation.
- Perform any other duties and responsibilities as maybe assigned from time to time by the Supervisor.
- Enter electronic data on PM, SF, FG in SAP
Financial Management
- Monitor and ensure zero waste of across the different manufacturing processes.
Risk Management
- Identify the department’s risks, their various mitigations and keep track of them.
Compliance
- Ensure regulatory compliance regarding product certification.
- Adherence to all Movit Group and In Country Policies and Procedures.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Related Minimum Experience:
- Hold a bachelor’s degree in: Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Chemical engineering, or any other related science discipline.
- Knowledge in SAP
- Awareness in occupational health & safety
- Minimum 1 years relevant experience in FMCG Industry preferably as a quality control analyst.

Physical Requirements and Environmental Conditions
- Frequency of travel: Occasional travel is required for meetings; location may vary and may require overnight stays
