Job Summary: To support the design, implementation, and monitoring of integrated nutrition and social protection interventions aimed at addressing and preventing malnutrition and enhancing food security and nutrition outcomes.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: Under the supervision of the Head of Programme, close collaboration with UN Agencies (UNICEF, ILO and FAO), District Local Governments (DLGs) and Nutrition implementing cooperating Partners (CPs) the incumbent will:

  • Provide project management support to the AO/FO, the DLGs and cooperating partners in the implementation of the social protection components under the Refugee Self Reliance Model (SRM) and in integrating nutrition sensitive interventions across all WFP interventions to ensure healthy diets.
  • Support cooperating partners and District Local Governments (DLGs) in the development of detailed annual workplans that clearly outline key processes—such as targeting, enrolment, benefit delivery, and complaints and feedback mechanisms—and ensure alignment with national social protection and nutrition policies, frameworks, and guidance.
  • Provide project management support for social protection and nutrition programmes, ensuring coordination with broader government initiatives—such as health and nutrition TWG, NUSAF4 and DRDIP2—and alignment with WFP standards, procedures, and strategic priorities.
  • With support from the IDM Unit, follow data gathering and monitoring systems ensuring that rigorous quality standards are maintained across social protection and nutrition programmes.
  • Support implementing District Local Governments (DLGs) and cooperating partners in conducting research and analysis on policy and operational issues to inform the design and implementation of social protection and nutrition policies, programmes, and activities.
  • In collaboration with the RAM Unit, contribute to the preparation of accurate and timely reports on social protection, nutrition, and related programmes to support informed decision-making and ensure consistency in information shared with stakeholders.
  • Liaise with WFP internal counterparts and the line departments at the DLG level to ensure effective collaboration, and joint monitoring of ongoing social protection and nutrition projects and activities.
  • Support  the identification, development, and management of strategic partnerships that enhance collaboration and contribute to improved food assistance packages under social protection and nutrition programmes.
  • Support the capacity building of WFP staff, partners and sub national governments to define and implement learning initiatives (Knowledge Management) on nutrition sensitive social protection programming.
  • Provide technical guidance to WFP staff at area and Field Offices, assisting them with analysis, troubleshooting, and capacity strengthening.
  • Supervise the Programme Associate for Social Protection, ensuring the development and implementation of a comprehensive Performance and Competency Enhancement (PACE) plan and an individual development plan aligned with programme objectives.
  • In coordination with Country Office (CO) and Field Office (FO) colleagues, ensure that donor missions and joint monitoring visits by UN agencies and Government stakeholders are effectively planned, executed, and documented.
  • Support oversight missions to District Local Governments and Cooperating Partners to monitor HACT fund use and nutrition commodity utilization, in coordination with Finance and Risk units.
  • Perform any other duties as required to support the effective implementation of social protection and nutrition programmes across the Area Office operations.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:




  • Advanced university degree in one of the following disciplines: Nutrition, Social Sciences, Development Studies, International Relations, , or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in social protection or nutrition programming, including hands on experience in social protection and nutrition system strengthening and nutrition-sensitive interventions.
  • Proven experience working with DLGs and Community Structures and designing and implementing capacity strengthening (CS) programmes/Initiatives.
  • Experienced facilitating and coordinating multi-stakeholder planning processes
  • Proven experience in managing and implementing community-based nutrition programmes including malnutrition treatment and nutrition-sensitive interventions.
  • Strong understanding of malnutrition treatment protocols, nutrition-sensitive programming, and resilience-building strategies.
  • Proficiency in food and nutrition security data collection, analysis, and reporting tools.
  • Knowledge of change management theories and best practices in line with nutrition sensitive social protection.
  • Takes initiative and consistently drives for high quality performance for self and colleagues.
  • Possess leadership qualities and ability to create synergies where applicable.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge on nutrition sensitive social protection programming is highly desirable.
