Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop investment and economic strategies based on management philosophy and customer objectives
- Focus on fund structuring and establishment; fundraising (targeting pension funds, institutional investors, DFIs, and HNIs;
- Formulation of investment strategy and portfolio construction.
- Deal sourcing and pipeline management; deal screening, assessment, structuring, negotiation, valuation/credit assessment, approval preparation and implementation; deal implementation and closing,
- Manage due diligence process and approval process at Investment Committee, collateral management, ongoing asset management and exit.
- Administrative responsibilities may include fund accounting, maintenance of capital accounts, quarterly reporting, liquidity management, managing inflows and outflows, managing payments, annual audits. Also consider regulatory and group engagements and reporting.
- Portfolio management: Monitor the financial and operational performance of existing portfolio companies, ensuring compliance with investment terms and identifying areas for improvement.
- Stakeholder relations: Build and maintain relationships with general partners, external partners, and clients, and provide regular updates on portfolio performance.
- Team collaboration and mentorship: Work closely with senior management and cross-functional teams, and often mentor and develop junior investment team members.
- ESG incorporation and reporting across the investment portfolios.
- Individually accountable for managing own time, tasks and output quality.
- Advising on implementation of key financial and accounting standards for the Group.

- Anti-Money Laundering (Aml) Expectation
- The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring adherence to, implementation of, and adoption of Compliance, Anti-Money Laundering (AML), and Sanctions-related policies, procedures, and process requirements within Old Mutual and its subsidiaries. This includes execution of customer due diligence processes, ensuring compliance with Know-Your-Customer (KYC) standards, conducting ongoing and enhanced due diligence, and maintaining data quality. Additionally, the role involves identifying and monitoring potential AML, Sanctions, or Compliance breaches and unusual activities, and escalating these concerns to the Risk and Compliance Office for further action.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Investment Management, or a related field is required.
- Professional certification or ongoing progress toward CFA or CAIA is a strong advantage.
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in investment management, corporate finance, private equity, venture capital, or a similar analytical role.
- Practical experience in financial modelling, investment analysis, due diligence, and transaction execution.
- Exposure to alternative investment classes such as private credit, private equity, real estate, or infrastructure is an added advantage.
- Experience in portfolio monitoring, reporting, and engagement with regulators, auditors, or institutional clients.
- Strong analytical capability, sound investment judgment, and a solid understanding of risk management principles.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with high levels of integrity and adherence to regulatory and compliance requirements.
- Participates in developing investment recommendations for portfolio managers relating to existing and potential investments. Develops and amends quantitative models to analyse and forecast market developments, estimating risks, identifying factors influencing investment decisions and quantifying potential risks and rewards.

- Advise managers how to apply a wide variety of existing procedures and precedents.

- Resolve queries from internal or external customers or suppliers by providing information on complex processes and the related policies, referring issues to others where necessary for interpretation of policy.

- Edit document in line with organizational style guidelines and prepare information for publication.

- Build effective working relationships within the internal client organization, delivering high-quality professional services with guidance from senior colleagues.
