Spiro is a leading provider of electric two-wheelers in Africa. The company’s headquarters are in Benin and has operations in Togo, Uganda, and Rwanda. Spiro offers two models of electric motorbikes and is preparing new versions, always adapted to the African market.

Job Summary: The Manager – Quality Assurance will lead and manage the quality control and process optimization efforts related to incoming materials, components, and overall production processes in the assembly plant for electric two-wheelers. This leadership role requires overseeing quality inspections, ensuring compliance with internal and external standards, managing part rejection processes, and driving continuous improvements in manufacturing. The Manager will work closely with cross-functional teams to maintain high-quality standards while enhancing operational efficiency and product reliability.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Incoming Quality Management:
  • Oversight of Incoming Quality Control: Lead the team responsible for the inspection of all incoming parts, materials, and components.
  • Ensure that all materiais meet the required quality standards, specifications, and safety requirements before they enter the production line.
  • Incoming Inspection: Oversee part sampling procedures and implement 100% inspection for critical components and materials, ensuring compliance with company specifications and customer requirements.
  • Rejection and Non-Conformance Handling: Manage the process of identifying, documenting, and addressing non-conforming parts.
  • Lead investigations to determine the root cause of quality issues and coordinate corrective actions with suppliers and internal teams.
  • Supplier Performance Management: Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to monitor quality, resolve quality issues, and ensure timely delivery of quality parts. Implement continuous improvement activities with suppliers based on performance data.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Ensure that all incoming quality inspections and actions are well-documented and that detailed quality reports are prepared for management, including rejection rates, corrective actions, and quality trends.
  • Process Quality Management:
  • Process Control & Optimization: Oversee the quality control and optimization of manufacturing processes in the assembly plant, ensuring that each stage of production is optimized for efficiency and quality. Monitor key process parameters to prevent defects and improve product consistency.
  • Continuous Improvement & Lean Initiatives: Lead continuous improvement programs, including Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Kaizen, to eliminate waste, reduce variability, and improve process efficiency. Ensure that improvement initiatives are implemented and yield measurable results.
  • Quality Metrics & Analysis: Define and track key quality metrics for process performance, including defect rates, first-pass yield, process capability, and rework rates. Use data analysis to drive decisions on process improvements and maintain high product quality standards.
  • Root Cause Analysis & Corrective Action: Lead root cause analysis activities for process-related issues and work closely with cross-functional teams to implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Ensure the timely resolution of process issues to prevent recurrence.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:




  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.
  • 12+ years of experience in quality management, process quality, or quality control within the automotive, electric vehicle, or manufacturing industry, with at least 3-5 years in a managerial or leadership role.
