Job Summary: To play an integral role in driving Global Markets’ revenue growth and fostering client relationships within the global financial markets with the key focus on Derivatives and other structured Global Markets solutions.

This position focuses on promoting and selling a range of financial products and services, including foreign exchange, fixed income and derivatives to corporate clients and individuals across various financial markets.

This incorporates putting in place a sales strategy for increasing the Bank’s share of existing clients’ business and enlarging the current portfolio of clients while ensuring compliance with the highest standards of regulatory conduct and compliance practices as defined by internal and external requirements. This includes compliance with the local banking laws, other applicable laws and anti-money laundering regulations and guidelines

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Financial

  • Develop and execute structured products’ sales strategies to achieve Global Markets revenue and business growth targets.
  • Develop and execute a Global Markets Sales strategic plan that is coherent and designed to ‘win’ at the unit level consistent with the overall bank strategy within the approved risk appetite and portfolio standards.
  • To grow the bank’s treasury Fx portfolio and ensure client retention and client acquisition.
  • Identify cross-selling and upselling opportunities to maximize revenue potential.
  • Monitor and analyse market development and the implications for management information.
  • Use data analytics to assess portfolio health and forecast future growth path.
  • Monitor sales performance metrics and prepare necessary reports for senior management.
  • Optimization of income through profitable sales of Foreign Exchange and other Global Markets products

Internal Business Processes

  • Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate and resolve risk and compliance matters relating to Global Market sales.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of compliance and risk management policies, ensuring adherence across the sales process.
  • Ensure that all Global Markets processes are adhered to in line with the approved policies and procedures.
  • Engage with all audit report findings, relevant to the Global Market Sales business and ensure feedback is acted upon.
  • Drive Global Market sales initiatives, attend sales meetings, represent Global Markets at sales/business related meetings whenever required.
  • Work closely with the Trading and ALM desk to ensure risk is managed and transferred adequately.
  • Collaborate with business teams, marketing team, and product specialists to deliver innovative solutions to clients

Customer

  • Build, maintain, and strengthen relationships with key clients, including institutional investors, hedge funds, asset managers, and corporate treasuries and High Net- worth Individuals
  • Drive account planning and active management of key clients in Uganda to enhance wallet share. Expound on regional relationships.
  • Understand client needs and provide tailored solutions using financial products and services.
  • Regularly update clients on market developments, investment opportunities, and trading strategies.
  • Ensure development of support platforms which includes all functions (people, technology and processes) matches the needs of client facing activities in Uganda. Manage quality of portfolio of Global Markets products by improving current products and developing new ones to ensure the Bank’s dynamic responsiveness to the needs of targeted market segments.
  • Develop a thorough appreciation for each allocated customers’ business and understanding of their potential needs for Global Markets products, through regular liaison with the principal RM for each customer as well as through direct contact with the customer.
  • Ensure speedy and positive response to all requests from customers for a specific transaction, or for more general advice, or introduction to a more appropriate contact within the Bank.
  • Active dialogue with key clients – know their needs/get involved to address key issues.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to drive strategic client agenda.

Learning And Growth

  • Implement appropriate development programs to ensure continuous enhancement of competences of the members of the team, including self. Promote a culture of high performance, innovation, and accountability. Identification and selection of key critical hires and deployment of appropriate talents across the Treasury Sales team to deliver the strategy, with a commitment to diversity and inclusion.
  • Living by example and build the appropriate culture and values in line with the Bank’s values.

Stakeholder Management: Key stakeholders that the position holder will need to liaise/work with to be successful in this role.

  • Ensure that recommended hours of learning/training are achieved for both self and direct report through E-learning, Internal & External training activities.
  • Ensure that there is proper succession plans for key roles and career development for direct reports.
  • Ensure direct reports attend trainings for self and career development
  • Ensure career development of direct reports through performance management, coaching, mentoring and job rotation.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:




  • University degree or equivalent in finance, economics, business, or a related field. Professional:
  • ACI Dealing Certification

Desired work experience:

  • At least 5 years’ experience in global markets sales, investment banking, or a related field with exposure to Derivatives and other structured global markets products.
  • A sound background and knowledge of banking with particular emphasis on foreign exchange products and money market products.
  • Proven track record of success in client relationship management and revenue generation.

Technical Competencies Technical Skills

  • Excellent understanding of Derivatives and other structured Financial Markets products.
  • Be able to know and monitor the key economic indicators that will impact on the fore business and be in a position to explain that to customers.
  • Ability to determine appropriate product/pricing strategies.
  • Good judgement is required when dealing with clients in giving advice on market trends
  • Good knowledge of operational and system user requirements for financial products
