About Organisation:
Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) is the legal entity, established by the Ugandan Parliament that is responsible for the operations of the capital city of Kampala in Uganda. It replaced the Kampala City Council.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: The incumbent will be responsible to the Supervisor Architectural Services for performing the following duties:-
- Producing designs for buildings and other building projects in accordance with briefs or specifications;
- Discussing design requirements with clients and other interested parties in order to determine the detailed project specification in relation to the type of construction, cost limitations, land scraping and planning requirements;
- Carrying out thorough site surveys so as to determine site characteristics and assessing likely problems;
- Advising client on details of proposed construction including impact on surrounding area and keeping them informed of progress;
- Preparing detailed drawings and design specifications for KCCA projects and submitting these for approval by the relevant Authority;
- Negotiating and overseeing contracts with builders so as to ensure that work is carried out to appropriate standards and in accordance with agreed timescales and costs;
- Maintaining awareness of developments in the course of Architecture so that up-to-date and accurate advice can be given to clients;
- Monitoring and auditing work carried out by contractors in order to ensure that it is of the required standards;
- Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Applicants should be Ugandans holding an Honors Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture; or Architectural Engineering; or Building Design from a recognized University / Institution. Possession of a Certificate in the related field will be an added advantage.
Working Experience
- Applicants should have a minimum of two (2) years relevant working experience in Government or equivalent level of relevant experience from a reputable organization.
