Job Summary: The Investment Officer – Appraisals is responsible for evaluating potential investment projects following the organization’s policies. This role involves preparing detailed assessments, facilitating due diligence, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. The officer will also engage with stakeholders, provide insights for informed decision-making, and contribute to effective project management to support sustainable investment initiatives.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Project Preparation and Development
- Compile and present initial project assessments to the supervisor for further evaluation.
- Support consultants in conducting due diligence, ensuring all legal, financial, and operational aspects are thoroughly examined.
- Prepare investment appraisal reports upon conclusion of a consultancy assignment, ensuring they meet the organization’s standards.
- Prepare and adopt ToRs for consultants to conduct pre-feasibility, feasibility, value chain and technical studies and other Consultancy assignments.
- Participate in the preparation of pre-feasibility, feasibility studies, and business plans for potential green field investments.
Market Research, Risk Analysis and Compliance
- Conduct market research to understand industry trends, competitive landscape, and market demand.
- Conduct in-depth risk assessments as part of the appraisal process to identify potential financial, operational, and market risks associated with investments.
- Ensure that all appraised investments comply with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
Stakeholder Communication and Reporting
- Regularly communicate appraisal findings to internal and external stakeholders, ensuring transparency and informed decision-making.
- Prepare detailed reports synthesising the results of appraisals, due diligence, and feasibility studies.
Other Duties
- As guided by your supervisors, collaborate with and support the BDS Unit, Appraisal, Implementation and Post Implementation Departments, Legal and Finance, and other Directorates to ensure the effective project development, appraisal and successful implementation and post-implementation of projects.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in geology, engineering, agribusiness, agriculture, economics, food science or any other related field.
- Details of experience
- Four (4) years of experience in a similar function.
Knowledge, skills and competences
- Proposal development and financial analysis.
- Computer skills in programs like Microsoft Suite.
- Report writing and presentation skills.
- Research skills.
