Job Summary: We are seeking a qualified and proactive Health and Safety Officer to ensure compliance with occupational health and safety standards and promote a safe working environment.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and monitor workplace health and safety policies and procedures
- Ensure compliance with Ugandan occupational safety and health regulations
- Conduct regular safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments
- Investigate workplace accidents, incidents, and near misses and prepare reports
- Organize safety training, inductions, and awareness programs for employees
- Ensure proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Maintain accurate health and safety records and documentation
- Liaise with regulatory authorities and external auditors when required
- Advise management on health, safety, and environmental risks
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Human Resource Management, or a related field
- Certification in Occupational Safety and Health (added advantage)
- Minimum of 2–3 years’ experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Good knowledge of Ugandan health and safety laws and regulations
- Strong communication, reporting, and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
