Job Summary: Under the direct supervision of the Verification officer and Field Monitor, the GFA Verification Assistant will support in the verification process of Persons of Concern (PoC) receiving food assistance through CBT & In-Kind to ensure that the right persons receive the right assistance in a timely manner, and provide accountability for POC assisted while observing safe guarding policies.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Admit and verify beneficiaries during food distribution using biometrics.
- Take the lead in mobilizing and verifying CBT beneficiaries during quarterly CBT verification.
- Support in development of mobilization plans for POCs and timely dissemination.
- Participate in data entry in OPM/UNHCR/WFP corporate systems.
- Compile and share quarterly verification reports for CBT beneficiaries.
- All CBT verification reports consolidated and shared.
- Compile and share distribution and quarterly CBT verification schedules.
- Support in the monitoring of agent cash out points.
- Mobilize retailers for WFP targeting and monitoring assessment.
- Cash agent points are supported through monitoring visits.
- Assist in retailer mobilization for key engagement in the project.
- Assist in organizing the identified retailers into groups, support groups to establish leadership and governance.
- All quarterly verification schedules are shared on time with the CBT beneficiaries and other key stake holders.
- Assist retailer groups to create and manage VSLAs and SACCOs to enable sustainable access to credit.
- Support in linking VSLAs and SACCOs to formal financial service providers (FSPs) for sustainable credit options and digitalization.
- Participate in mainstreaming Gender, Accountability to the Affected Persons (AAP).
- Carry out any other relevant duty assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- A bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer science, Agriculture, Nutrition, Food science, social sciences, or any other related discipline from a reputable institution.
- At least 2 years of Demonstrated experience in participatory, community-driven facilitation skills and experience in data management with a reputable organization.
- At least 1 years’ Experience of working with vulnerable communities and familiarity with food distribution programs.
Core Competences
- Training in IT and retailer engagement is an added advantage.
- Ability to use standard office equipment such as photocopiers and scanners.
- Ability to create, manage and protect beneficiary data bases.
- Knowledge of standard office software packages, e.g. Microsoft word and spread sheet.
- Ability to provide information using courtesy and tact.
- Good analytical, report writing skills and ability to work under minimum supervision, attention to detail and able to multi-task.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
- Good community engagement, presentation, Negotiation skills.
- Good training skills, hardworking, calm, mature, logical, culturally sensitive, result oriented and interest in humanitarian development.
- Fluency in written and oral English is a requirement, and ability to speak and understand local languages in Area of Operation.
