Millennium Sacco 2012 Ltd was established on 13/12/2012 under the name Ankole Diocese Millennium SACCO. The main objective was to improve people’s livelihoods by offering affordable loans at competitive rates and having a good savings culture in our society.
Job Summary: The Finance Officer will oversee and manage the financial operations of the SACCO under the guidance of the Finance and Administration Manager. This role includes financial reporting, budgeting, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations, contributing to the organization’s strategic objectives.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Financial Management
- Prepare, analyze, and present monthly financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial records and ledgers.
- Manage the SACCO’s day-to-day financial transactions, including accounts receivable and payable.
Budgeting and Planning
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts.
- Monitor budget implementation and flag variances for corrective action.
- Provide financial data to support decision-making for strategic planning.
Cash Flow and Treasury Management
- Monitor cash flow and ensure adequate liquidity for operational needs.
- Reconcile bank statements and ensure proper management of the SACCO’s accounts.
Compliance and Reporting
- Ensure adherence to financial policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate with auditors during internal and external audits.
- Prepare statutory returns such as taxes, pension contributions, and other regulatory filings.
Member and Stakeholder Engagement
- Manage member contributions, savings, and loan accounts.
- Provide accurate financial reports and updates to the SACCO’s members as required.
- Support the Finance and Administration Manager in stakeholder financial reporting.
System and Process Optimization
- Assist in implementing and maintaining financial management systems.
- Identify areas for process improvement and recommend efficiency-enhancing solutions.
Risk Management
- Monitor and mitigate financial risks, including fraud prevention and detection.
- Ensure proper internal controls are in place and adhered to.
Team Collaboration
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth financial operations.
- Train and guide junior finance staff as required.
- Any other duty assigned to you by your supervisor.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Minimum experience of 2 years for each position
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- High level of integrity and professionalism.
- Experience in a financial institution or SACCO will be an added advantage.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial management.
- Proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel.
- Analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- High level of integrity and attention to detail.
