Job Purpose: To provide technical support and guidance in the implementation and appraisal of financial management systems, practices and policies for effective budgeting, disbursement, accountability and utilization of resources.
Job Summary: The Finance Manager will be responsible for providing strategic financial leadership, ensuring effective financial management, accountability, and compliance within NUDIPU. The role involves overseeing financial planning, budgeting, reporting, and implementation of financial policies to support the organization’s sustainability and operational efficiency.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Financial Planning and management
- Assist in the preparation of the annual organizational budget in collaboration with department heads
- Monitor budget utilization and provide timely variance analysis
- Advise management on financial risks and opportunities
- Lead the preparation of the annual organizational budget in collaboration with department heads.
- Monitor budget performance, analyse variances, and provide strategic recommendations.
- Ensure timely preparation of periodic management accounts and financial reports for both internal and external stakeholders
- Oversee budgeting, budget revisions, and budgetary control within NUDIPU to ensure effective resource allocation.
- Ensure compliance with statutory financial and employment obligations, including tax remittances.
- Implement sound accounting principles and internal controls to safeguard the organization’s financial resources.
- Provide financial insights and risk assessment to guide strategic decision-making.
- Ensure that periodic management accounts and other financial reports are prepared for use by NUDIPU and external stakeholders
- Ensure that NUDIPU complies with statutory employment obligations including taxes
- Ensure that sound accounting principles and controls are applied to financial transactions in the organization
- Oversee budgeting, budget revisions and budgetary control within NUDIPU
- Ensure that NUDIPU’s financial policies are interpreted and applied correctly by staff, Board and other stakeholders.
Financial management and reporting
- Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in line with donor, regulatory, and internal requirements.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for management and donors.
- Maintain financial records and ensure proper documentation for audits.
- Monitor NUDIPU’s compliance with donor agreements and funding contracts.
- Conduct bank reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and resolve financial anomalies
- Monitor NUDIPU’s compliance with partners’ contracts and agreements
- Carry out bank reconciliation for the organisation accounts, report any discrepancies to the Director Finance and Administration a way for their timey resolution.
- Verify general ledgers, journals and reports for completeness and accuracy.
- Maintain books and financial records of all programmes/projects.
- Provide support to the organization’s procurement activities
- Provide regular updates to the Director Finance and Administration on the financial position of the various projects/programmes and any issues that require immediate action.
- Prepare for and ensure timely submission of annual accounts to Auditors
- Provide support supervision to and appraise the Finance Officers.
- Prepare regular financial reports for the donors, management accounts and other financial reports to inform decision making by NUDIPU Management .
- Support the preparation of project/programme workplans, budgets and budget revisions as required by the various donors and the organization.
- Build the capacity of NUDIPU Membership, Board, Programme staff and those in the Finance Unit in Financial management through policies and practices.
Undertake the following Management responsibilities
- Participate in organisational planning including setting of activity and financial targets.
- Participate in the development and or review of policies and organizational structure as and when appropriate
- Advise the Executive Director on all financial, administrative and human resource matters.
Participate in Resource Mobilization and budgeting
- Support fundraising activities (including support to proposal writing and preparation of project budgets) as required by the Executive Director
Planning, Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting
- Plan and manage own workload in accordance with NUDIPU policies and procedures
- Monitor the implementation of planned activities regularly and take action as appropriate
- Design and take part in the evaluation of own work
- Accept responsibility for quality of own work
- Support and participate in the evaluation of NUDIPU’s interventions, in particular the financial, administrative and human resource aspects.
- Ensure that resources are properly deployed and utilized.
Other tasks and responsibilities
- Carry out own administrative functions, including filing and use of word processing software for the production of own correspondence and reports .
- Ensure that the files and recording systems (both manual and computerized) are accurate and kept up to date and that all contacts with external organisations are properly recorded, as appropriate.
- Carry out any other organisational administration duties such as minute taking and registration at events as may be required

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in commerce (Accounting option) or Business Administration (Accounting option) or Business Studies (Accounting option) or Accounting and Finance (Accounting option) from a recognized University.
- Master’s degree in business administration, or Financial Management, from a recognized awarding institution
- Professional accounting qualifications or ACCA, or CPA Level IV
Industry Experience
- At least 6–7 years of experience in financial management, preferably within the NGO sector.
- Previous experience working with membership, NGO organization with many donors will be an advantage.
- At least 5 years in a supervisory role with specific handling procurement, finance, and administration processes
- Experience in using financial systems like QuickBooks, palladium etc.
- Significant experience in financial monitoring, budgeting systems, internal controls, and audit processes.
- Demonstrate experience of working with persons with disabilities.
- Lived experience with disability.
Technical and interpersonal Skills
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, and grant management.
- Experience working with donor-funded projects and international financial regulations.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SunSystems) and Microsoft Excel.
- In-depth understanding of tax regulations, financial compliance, and audit procedures.
