It is tasked with raising public awareness and support of the work of the United Nations through strategic communications campaigns, media and relationships with civil society groups.
Job Summary: Broadcast quality footage of interview(s) and B-roll of a United Nations Youth Office’s Young Leader for the SDGs, shot according to UN Video’s instructions with correct lighting and microphones. Full rights to all footage recorded is granted to the United Nations.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: This function is located in the UN Video Section of the News and Content Branch, within the News and Media Division (NMD) in the Department of Global Communications (DGC). The individual contractor (videographer) will report to the UN Video producer. The field videographer will film interview(s) and B-roll of a United Nations Youth Office’s Young Leader for the SDGs, in an international setting, providing footage for UN Video’s production(s). Full rights to all footage recorded is granted to the United Nations. The Individual Contractor (videographer) shall:
- Liaise with relevant UN Video producer to agree on timelines and deadlines
- Attend online meetings with UN Video for specifics on how to shoot the interview and B-roll.
- Film interview(s) and B-roll in designated location.
- Full rights to all footage is granted to the United Nations.
- Deliver interview(s) and B-roll footage upon completion to UN Video individual contractor manager using an online transfer method, such as WeTransfer, Dropbox, Google Drive. a. Candidate must be equipped with a professional video camera (4K desirable), a tripod, portable lighting, and microphone b. Requirements of filmed footage: Broadcast quality, landscape 16:9 aspect ratio videos, or as instructed by UN Video and IC Manager.
- Follow UN Video guidelines, ensuring obtaining permissions and copyright, including written approvals for photos and video content, especially where minors are concerned.
- Possesses a minimum of three (3) years of experience in video filming and editing is required.
- Speak the language of the interviewee.
- Employment verification letters are required.
- Work samples may be requested.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in communication, journalism, video, film and television or related areas. A High School degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the university degree.
- A minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in communication, journalism, video, film and television or related area is required.
- Experience in video filming and editing is required. Experience in proper lighting techniques and sound recording is required. Equipped with a professional video camera, a tripod, portable lighting, and microphones is required.
- Stable connection to internet and ability to send videos online is required. Experience filming and producing in international settings is desirable.
- Languages
- English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another UN official languages is desirable
