Job Summary: The Credit Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and guiding loan officers in client acquisition, credit appraisal, loan disbursement, monitoring and recovery activities. The role ensures portfolio quality, complete credit and achievement of branch lending targets.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Credit Operations and Appraisal
- Review and verify loan applications submit loan officers
- Conduct field visits, client interviews and household/ business assessments Ensure proper credit appraisal, group formulation and loan documentation Recommend loan approvals within set limits and escalate higher-risk cases
Portfolio Monitoring & Risk Management
- Track individual and group performance across all loan cycles
- Monitor repayment schedules to ensure high collection rates
- Identify potential delinquent cases early and design recovery strategies
- Support loan officers with follow-ups and field recovery visits
- Maintain PAR(Portfolio at Risk) within acceptable institutional limits
Staff Supervision & Capacity Building
- Supervise, mentor and support loan officers in daily activities Provide ongoing coaching on field procedures, credit management
- Ensure staff meet productivity & portfolio quality targets
- Conduct regular performance reviews and assist in training of new staff
Compliance & Reporting
- Ensure all credit operations comply within internal policies and regulatory standards
- Verify the accuracy of credit files, clients and loan records
- Prepare daily, weekly and monthly credit reports for the branch are submitted to management
- Support internal and external audits by ensuring proper documentation
Customer service
- Address client concerns related to credit products and repayments schedules
- Promote responsible borrowing and financial literacy among clients
- Strength the institution’s relationship with clients, groups and community leaders
Business Development
- Guide loan officers in finding new clients and expanding into new areas
- Assist with marketing
- Loan products and other financial services
- Analyze market trends and recommend new opportunities for loan growth
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Micro finance, finance, Business Administration, accounting and Economics or related field
- 2+ work experience in micro finance lending or credit operations
- Strong understanding of group and individual lending methodologies
- Field work experience and willingness to travel extensively
- Good communication, supervision and problem solving skills
- High levels of ethical standards and integrity
