Job Title: Conservation Education Program Coordinator

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Team Leadership and Supervision
- Provide leadership, supervision, and ongoing support to the Conservation Education team.
- Facilitate training, coaching, and mentorship to ensure high team performance and professional development.
Program Development and Implementation
- Lead the design, planning, execution, and evaluation of all Conservation Education programs.
- Develop and implement educational curricula for Conservation Education and Wildlife Club activities across 16 KFSP partner primary schools.
- Coordinate the delivery of conservation education activities in schools and support Wildlife Club engagement.
Educational Outreach and Events
- Organize and facilitate regular Wildlife Club meetings in collaboration with school patrons.
- Plan and deliver teacher training workshops for Wildlife Club patrons.
- Coordinate and lead educational wildlife tours and outreaches to relevant conservation sites.
Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting
- Design, implement, and analyze program evaluations, surveys, and impact assessments.
- Collect, enter, and analyze data to inform program improvements and reporting.
- Prepare detailed reports on program outcomes and activities for internal and external stakeholders.
Grants and Budget Management
- Assist in writing grant proposals to secure funding for conservation education initiatives.
- Manage program budgets, ensuring effective allocation and use of resources.
Partnerships and Stakeholder Engagement
- Build and maintain strong relationships with KFSP partner schools, patrons, and affiliated organizations.
- Represent the program at relevant meetings, workshops, and stakeholder events.
Records and Database Management
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date databases and documentation of all conservation education activities and participant records.
Additional Responsibilities
- Carry out any other duties as assigned by the KFSP Management Team or their designee in support of program goals.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Conservation Biology, Education, Natural Resource Management, Social Sciences, or a related field.
Experience
- Minimum of 3–5 years of professional experience in conservation education, environmental education, or related outreach programs.
- Demonstrated experience in designing, planning, and implementing education or outreach programs.
- Experience working with primary schools, youth programs, or community engagement initiatives.
- Supervisory or team leadership experience.
- Experience managing program budgets and activity planning.
- Experience in monitoring and evaluation (data collection, entry, basic analysis).
- Experience writing activity or progress reports.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal) in English and Runyakitara, and use of email and communication platforms such as Zoom.
- Ability to design and implement conservation or education curricula.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially PowerPoint, Excel, Word), Google Drive, and basic data management tools.
- Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders (schools, partners, team members).
- High level of integrity, self-motivation, and accountability.
- Willingness to travel and work in rural areas

Education
- Postgraduate qualification (e.g., Master’s degree or Postgraduate Diploma) in a relevant field.

- Experience working within donor-funded projects or NGOs.
- Experience writing or contributing to grant proposals.

- Knowledge of child safeguarding and protection practices in education programs.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel independently, if required.
- Specific industry or software knowledge required:
- Conservation and Environmental Education
- Understanding of key conservation issues in Uganda (e.g., wildlife protection, habitat conservation, biodiversity, climate change).
- Experience engaging with school-based wildlife or environmental clubs.
- Familiarity with Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA), NEMA, and other conservation stakeholders.
- Education Sector & Curriculum Design
- Understanding of the Ugandan primary education system (structures, term schedules, teacher engagement).
- Experience or knowledge in designing learner-centered curricula for children.
- Familiarity with child safeguarding, inclusive education practices, and age-appropriate learning.
- Software Knowledge
- Experience in Microsoft Office (especially PowerPoint, Excel, Word), Google Drive, and basic data management tools or use of digital M&E platforms, and use of email and communication platforms such as Zoom.
