Job Summary: The Revenue Assurance Analyst is a part of the Revenue Assurance department of the Opco and would support the revenue assurance function at the Opco. The purpose of this job is primarily to review MTN system architecture, consumer products, new technologies, or revenue streams based on call data record formats/ information to be able to design effective requisite RAFM controls to eliminate or mitigate revenue leakage exposure and fraud opportunities. The role is highly tech skill dependent and requires a high level of understanding of core and billing systems to the engineering level with the ability to interpret system information into business formats suitable for control execution and monitoring.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Reporting directly to the Manager – Revenue Assurance Operations, to improve revenues and profitability through proactive reconciliations and controls of different revenue streams (prepaid, post-paid, interconnect, enterprise, Mobile money, roaming, VAS, data)
- To support the RA Ops infrastructure for the performance of RA controls within MTN Uganda Ltd RA Control Framework (RACF)
- To support the performance of the reconciliatory control environment in an effective and efficient manner to detect and prevent revenue leakage
- To support the incident management process relating to revenue and cost-impacting issues within MTN Uganda Ltd
- To drive for an automated control environment by strategically improving the method of control performance from manual to automated through available tools and resources
- To execute investigations & analysis into leakage indicators coming from automated reconciliation tools
- To assist in the project management & day-to-day operations & calibration of existing RA management tools
- Any other duties in Revenue Assurance & Fraud Management as assigned by the supervisor.
Key Performance Areas:
- Overall responsibility for the RACF (Secondary controls) + responsible to strengthen and enhance primary control environment together with the primary owners
- Root cause analysis and remediation of revenue leakage matters
- RA control validation and execution to minimise leakage opportunities
- Support for control gap closure, control quality and review for risk reduction
- Provide input into RAFM strategy in accordance with the overall MTN strategy
- Innovate and create new product or service control solutions through risk analysis & fraud management best practice
- Ongoing support of internal improvement roadmap to ensure a cycle of review and improvement exists within the team
- Quantification of the leakages realised from system and control failures and registering the same on the RAMS tool
- Follow up with primary control on process development and or improvement for vulnerable areas for which no process is defined
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Essential – University Undergraduate Degree – Finance, Accounting, IT, Telecommunications or related field
- Preferable – CISA/CISM qualification
Other Training
- Revenue & Quality Assurance Management Training where applicable
- Essentials of Business Intelligence (BI) concepts with large data
- Essentials of auditing and Investigation’s skills in complex telecom environments
- SQL and SQL scripting. Basic understanding of databases
- Telecommunications technology concepts and networking
- MTN consumer products
- Standard desktop systems training – Microsoft Office applications MS Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
- Telecommunications technology training would be advantageous
- Audit training advantageous
Work Experience
- 2 years of RA management experience in a complex, technology-oriented industry
- Knowledge of network principles, systems and interconnectivity allows the individual to perform role without constraint.
- A good appreciation of telecommunications technology, products and systems & how fraud controls can be integrated.
- At least 2 years of working knowledge with internal control and governance systems and environments is essential
- At least 2 years of data analytics experience
Skills and competencies:
- Experience working with Revenue Assurance tools such as WEDO, Subex etc is preferred
- Revenue Assurance Analysis experience
- Conflict management
- Influencing others Information processing
- Problem solving in complex environments
- Data mining – preferably in Telecommunications industry
- Ability to use analysis models and identify targets within a large pool of data beyond 6 million records
