Established 30 years ago as Biyinzika, BPIL has grown from small beginnings to a company with over 9?5 employees stationed in over 9 production sites. BPIL produces and distributes quality day-old chicks and HACCP certified animal feed through over 40 branches within Uganda and the East African region. BPIL also produces chicken meat products under the Pearl Chicken brand retailed directly through our 30 Pearl chicken shops. Pearl also supplies leading wholesale, retail and food service customers with quality Ugandan National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) certified products.
Job Summary: The role is responsible for providing sales and technical support within the assigned territory and achieve the set sales objectives.
The position holder is expected to follow the set rules, regulations, and guidelines of BPIL while ensuring the accomplishment of goals and targets given by Management.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Drive commercial growth and offer technical support in the assigned territory
- Regularly visiting customers in the field to drive sales objectives and assist with technical support to achieve success for the farmer.
- Frequently holding farmers’ meetings and trainings to drive chicks and feeds sales.
- Attending to customer complaints.
- Improve farmer’s management practices so that they are successful enough to survive and grow their business.
- Promote BPIL products and branches through regular interaction with customers in the area of operation as well as by participating in any promotional events that may be organized by the Company.
- Seek out new customers in the area of operation and expand BPIL customer base so that the Company maximizes its sales potential.
- Get to know customer’s objectives, buying patterns, their rearing system, standard of management, potential for growth to leverage revenue from the relationship and promote the company as a quality supplier with the aim of achieving “preferred’ supplier status.
- Feed- back information to management re poultry market and other livestock market in the area of operation – market trends, competitor activity & pricing, performance of our own products, sales opportunities for other poultry related products or other livestock related products.
- Identify any other sales opportunities that may exist in the marketplace for poultry products or other livestock products.
- Obtain new clients for the business.
- Gather market information and feedback to the business.
- Collaborate with the promoters to create demand for the BPIL brand/s.
- Achieve or exceed monthly, quarterly and annual sales volume and UGX/Kg targets.
- Cover all customers in a geographic region, take orders and push sales for the business
- Any other duties assigned by management.
Financial Responsibility:
- Ensure that all chicks are sold and none left unsold
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Minimum of Degree or Diploma in Business Administration majoring in Sales and Marketing, Agricultural, Animal Husbandry or Veterinary training.
- Prior training in Professional Selling Skills or in Customer Care is an added advantage.
- Experience or knowledge in the animal health industry, including working with either animal supplements, veterinary pharmacies, animal feed, or farming equipment.
Skills and Experience:
- 4-5 years working experience in a similar role in a busy, commercial environment.
- Experience in extension work is an added advantage.
