About Organisation:
Uganda Cancer Institute (UCI) is an autonomous body under the Ministry of Health, established by the Uganda Cancer Institute Act, 2016. The Act mandates the Institute to manage and coordinate cancer care and cancer-related conditions across the country. UCI’s core functions include cancer treatment, prevention, research, and training in fields such as Oncology, Pediatrics, Gynecology, Radiotherapy, Surgery, Imaging and Radiology, Nuclear Medicine, and other related specialties.
Job Summary: To develop and implement strategies for mobilizing financial and technical resources to support UCI programs, and to foster strong partnerships and stakeholder engagement.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: The incumbent will be responsible to Manager – Business Development for performing the following duties: –
- Identification of funding opportunities through engagements with key GoU officials and development partners.
- Prepare targeted compelling funding proposals and project briefs to GoU and development partners.
- Monitor and track performance of resource mobilization efforts
- Build and maintain strong relationships with current and potential key funders through regular stakeholder engagements.
- Monitor and track performance of stakeholder engagements.
- Document success stories and emerging issues arising out of the engagements.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly performance reports
- Research and generate briefs on potential funders
- Undertake any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Honours Bachelors’ Degree in Social Sciences, Economics, Humanities, Development Studies, or related field,
- Post graduate qualification in a development related field
- Postgraduate qualification in Project Planning and Management is of added advantage.
- A Minimum of four (4) years of experience with a proven track record of resource mobilization efforts. Demonstrable experience in project management, monitoring and evaluation and in establishing and fostering partnerships.
- Key competencies required for the post: The incumbent should have key competences in: Analytical and communication skills with the ability to prepare proposals, reports and concept papers to a high level of proficiency; Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in cross-cultural teams; High level of resilience; Excellent proposal writing skills; Proven exceptional communication, presentation and writing skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels within the organisation and externally; Proven experience in working with Government and Public Sectors institutions; An understanding of the operations of donors and international development organisations, and; Demonstrated ability to cross and bridge different racial, cultural, or business cultures.
