Tropical Bank Limited is jointly owned by the Governments of the Republic of Uganda 0.03% and the Libyan Foreign Bank (LFB) 99.97% of Paid-up Capital. The Bank provides professional and personalized commercial banking services to various sectors of the economy including financial support to Parastatals, Corporates, Small and Medium Enterprises, Individuals, and Non-Governmental Organisations.

Job Summary: Drive the growth of Trade Finance income (funded and non-funded) across the network. This job requires collaboration with different teams including branches to mobilize customers who are in trade business (internally or cross boarder).

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To cultivate any new business opportunities and bring in revenue for the Bank as per the set target.
  • To maintain and develop business relationship with existing and prospective customers.
  • To monitor designated accounts portfolio for managing the overall credit risks.
  • Provide coaching for subordinates through on job training.
  • To oversee the Trade Finance operation and drive growth and revenue.
  • Identify training needs, provide feedback & coaching to ensure maximum potential is achieved.
  • Develop business opportunities and monitor business activities in line with the Bank’s long-term strategic and annual business plans and ensure that the Bank remains competitive and promptly reacts to changing market conditions and customer needs.
  • Implement a focused relationship management system, which increases the Bank’s ability to increase the flow of business and generate deposits, lending, and revenues from existing and new customers in line with the enterprise strategy.
  • Adhere to the appropriate controls and monitoring mechanisms for the development of a high-quality asset book by fully complying with the Bank’s Credit Policy, Bank of Uganda guidelines and appropriate legal provisions with respect to lending and Trade & Working Capital Solutions Products.

Strategic Marketing:

  • Practice strategic marketing by focusing on how to develop competitive advantage into the changing marketplace and leveraging on the banks distinctive capabilities to drive value.
  • Enhance value creation by creating, communicating, delivering, and offering solutions that have value for customers, shareholders, and partners.
  • Develop innovative solutions that will be delivered through branches and electronic channels that respond to market needs or identified gaps in the market.
  • Jointly with other commercial teams including branches, carry out customer marketing events that are aimed at enhancing bank’s wallet share.
  • Capacity Building through trainings on Trade & Working Capital Solutions Products

Strategic customer experience:

  • Lead & drive high levels of customer engagement
  • Build a base of promoters by enhancing positive customer experience and advocacy to drive competitive advantage, leading to faster organic growth and lower cost.
  • Create a differentiated customer experience design, tailored to target customer needs and optimize customer interactions with the brand, offerings, and touch points to consistently deliver and make continuous improvements to the design.
  • Periodically review existing products based on customer feedback and market trends to ensure continuous product utilization- Drive customer-led propositions.
  • Promotes business for the Bank by maintaining good customer relations and referring customers to appropriate staff for new services.
  • Ensure agreed service level agreement (SLA) is maintained at all levels.

Control:

  • Handle all requests for short term excesses in liaison with Credit Risk unit and ensure proper authorization is obtained.
  • Working together with the Branch Credit Manager/Branch Manager to ensure daily banking and operational services are delivered to the trade clients to the Bank’s satisfaction.
  • Daily monitoring of account operations of all trade borrowers
  • Check covenants and other conditions at least monthly to ensure full compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with terms & conditions laid down by the Approver and Offer Letter.
  • Maintain client registers/databases for ease of keeping contact.
  • Undertake renewals &/or reviews of outstanding loans before 90 days of expiry.

Others:

  • Responsible for driving the set targets/budgets for the Trade Finance unit.
  • Maintain database of Corporate and Trade Clients.
  • Prepare performance reports.
  • Originate quality loans to meet individual targets.
  • Submit periodic reports of all loans approved/disbursed, to ExCom.
