Sim Plastics (U) Ltd is a plastics manufacturing company dealing in the production of different shapes of plastic containers mainly supplied to our sister company Movit Products Ltd.
Job Summary: We are seeking a meticulous and experienced Quality Assurance and Control Engineer to ensure our packaging products and processes meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and reliability. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining quality systems to monitor production, inspect raw materials and finished goods, and drive continuous improvement initiatives across the organization.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Quality System Management:
- Develop, implement, and maintain the company’s Quality Management System (QMS) in line with industry standards.
- Create and update detailed Quality Control (QC) procedures, checklists, and documentation for all production processes.
Process & Product Monitoring:
- Conduct regular in-process inspections and final audits of packaging products to ensure they meet specified dimensional, material, and performance criteria.
- Monitor production processes to identify potential non-conformities and areas for improvement.
Testing & Analysis:
- Perform and oversee various quality tests on raw materials (e.g., polymers, cardboard, inks) and finished goods.
- Analyze test data and product samples to identify trends, root causes of defects, and implement corrective actions.
Non-Conformance Management:
- Lead the investigation into customer complaints and internal non-conformances.
- Manage the Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) process to resolve issues and prevent recurrence.
Supplier & Customer Quality:
- Work with the procurement team to evaluate and monitor the quality of incoming materials from suppliers.
- Interface with customers to understand their quality requirements and ensure they are met.
Reporting & Compliance:
- Prepare detailed quality reports for management, highlighting performance metrics, defect rates, and improvement activities.
- Ensure all quality activities comply with relevant national and international standards.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Polymer Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a Quality Assurance/Control role, preferably within the packaging, manufacturing, or FMCG industry.
- Professional certification in Quality Control (e.g., CQE – Certified Quality Engineer) is a strong advantage.
- Proven experience with Quality Management Systems (QMS) and auditing processes.
Key Skills and Competencies
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, quality control principles, and testing methods relevant to packaging (e.g., tensile strength, burst strength, seal integrity).
- Analytical Skills: Excellent problem-solving and root cause analysis abilities (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone Diagram).
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional observational skills to identify minute defects and deviations from standards.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively report findings and liaise with production teams and management.
- Proactive & Rigorous: A self-starter with high integrity and a rigorous approach to maintaining quality standards.
