About Organisation:
Uganda Cancer Institute (UCI) is an autonomous body under the Ministry of Health, established by the Uganda Cancer Institute Act, 2016. The Act mandates the Institute to manage and coordinate cancer care and cancer-related conditions across the country. UCI’s core functions include cancer treatment, prevention, research, and training in fields such as Oncology, Pediatrics, Gynecology, Radiotherapy, Surgery, Imaging and Radiology, Nuclear Medicine, and other related specialties.
Job Summary: To provide quality nursing services at UCI
Key Duties and Responsibilities: The incumbent will be responsible to the Senior Nursing Officer for performing the following duties: –
- Planning, monitoring, and evaluating nursing activities
- Preparing and submitting reports
- Allocating duties to nursing staff and students for smooth running of wards of heath units.
- Coaching and mentoring students and staff
- Conducting research activities for evidence-based practice
- Implementing nursing protocols
- Managing performance of staff.
- Make arrangements for provision of wards with adequate supplies and drugs.
- Accounting for supplies and drugs.
- Conducting primary health care and health education.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- A Bachelor of Science degree in either Nursing or equivalent from a recognized University institution
- Evidence of training in specialized area is an added advantage.
- Key competencies required for the post: Results orientation; Leadership; Concern for quality and standards; Problem solving and decision making; Teamwork; Public relations and customer care; Ethics and integrity; Planning, organizing and coordinating; Coaching and mentoring and Managing employee performance; Report writing skills; Research; ICT; Experience providing medical services; Counselling Skills; Customer focused with ability to decipher customer expectations.
