About Organisation:
Uganda Cancer Institute (UCI) is an autonomous body under the Ministry of Health, established by the Uganda Cancer Institute Act, 2016. The Act mandates the Institute to manage and coordinate cancer care and cancer-related conditions across the country. UCI’s core functions include cancer treatment, prevention, research, and training in fields such as Oncology, Pediatrics, Gynecology, Radiotherapy, Surgery, Imaging and Radiology, Nuclear Medicine, and other related specialties.
Job Summary: To participate in provision of curative and preventive health care services at the Institute.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: The incumbent will be responsible to Associate Consultant for performing the following duties: –
- Participating in planning and budgeting activities.
- Diagnosing, treating and referring patients.
- Accounting for allocated resources.
- Participating in outreach Health programs
- Participating in research activities.
- Participating in continued professional development.
- Adhering to professional Code of Conduct and Ethics.
- Compiling and submitting reports.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Must have an MBChB or its equivalent from a recognized Institution.
- Must be registered and licensed with Uganda Medical and Dental Practitioners Council.
- Must have a valid Annual Practicing License.
- Must be willing to undergo specialist training in Oncology
- Key competencies required for the post: The incumbent should have competences in: Planning, organizing and coordinating; Information Communication Technology; Report writing, Ethics and Integrity; Concern for quality standard; Public Relations and Customer care and Teamwork; Report writing skills; Research; ICT; Basic life support skills; Experience providing medical services; Counselling skills; Customer focused with ability to decipher customer expectations.
