About Organisation:
Uganda Cancer Institute (UCI) is an autonomous body under the Ministry of Health, established by the Uganda Cancer Institute Act, 2016. The Act mandates the Institute to manage and coordinate cancer care and cancer-related conditions across the country. UCI’s core functions include cancer treatment, prevention, research, and training in fields such as Oncology, Pediatrics, Gynecology, Radiotherapy, Surgery, Imaging and Radiology, Nuclear Medicine, and other related specialties.
Job Summary: To conduct advanced laboratory investigations
Key Duties and Responsibilities: The incumbent will be responsible to Senior Medical Laboratory Technologist for performing the following duties: –
- Collecting and analyzing specimens;
- Implementing bio-safety and bio security guidelines;
- Executing activity work plans and budgets;
- Interpreting and reporting analysis results;
- Supervising and on bench training of students;
- Developing and implementing standard operating procedures;
- Analyzing disease surveillance specimens;
- Generating data from the laboratory for various purposes; and
- Supervising, mentoring and appraising staff.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- A Bachelors’ degree in Medical Laboratory Science/Technology or its equivalent from a recognized University/Institution
- Must be registered with UAHPC and holds a valid practicing license.
