About Organisation:
Uganda Cancer Institute (UCI) is an autonomous body under the Ministry of Health, established by the Uganda Cancer Institute Act, 2016. The Act mandates the Institute to manage and coordinate cancer care and cancer-related conditions across the country. UCI’s core functions include cancer treatment, prevention, research, and training in fields such as Oncology, Pediatrics, Gynecology, Radiotherapy, Surgery, Imaging and Radiology, Nuclear Medicine, and other related specialties.
Job Summary: To conduct routine Internal Audit engagements in accordance with existing regulations and guidelines
Key Duties and Responsibilities: The incumbent will be responsible to Senior Internal Auditor for performing the following duties: –
- Assist in developing and executing risk-based audit plans.
- Perform internal audits to ensure effective risk management, internal controls, and governance, aligning with IIA standards.
- Monitor and confirm the implementation of audit recommendations from both internal and external audits.
- Advise management on risk management best practices, using the COSO framework.
- Participate in and verify quarterly inventory counts.
- Facilitate or document departmental meetings as part of a rotational schedule.
- Support the Head of Internal Audit in leading the department
- Verify payment requests and documentation to approve transactions for processing.
- Reconcile invoices and purchase orders before authorizing payments for goods and services.
- Manage financial records and advance ledgers.
- Conduct periodic reconciliations of financial statements and monthly cash book reconciliations.
- Review and verify payroll changes to ensure accurate payments and deductions.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- An Honours Bachelor’s degree in Finance and Accounting. Or An Honours Bachelor degree with a bias in Accountancy or Audit option obtained from a recognized awarding Institution; Or
- Full professional qualification in Accountancy or Audit obtained from a recognized awarding Institution accredited by the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU).
- Key competencies required for the post: The incumbent should have key competences in: Audit Strategy and Planning; Audit Execution; Audit Reporting; Information and Communications; Decision Making and Problem Solving; Innovative and creativity; Inter-personal relations; Ethics and Integrity; Effective Communication; Negotiation; Intra-personal Management and Result oriented; Report writing and ICT Skills.
