About Organisation:
Uganda Cancer Institute (UCI) is an autonomous body under the Ministry of Health, established by the Uganda Cancer Institute Act, 2016. The Act mandates the Institute to manage and coordinate cancer care and cancer-related conditions across the country. UCI’s core functions include cancer treatment, prevention, research, and training in fields such as Oncology, Pediatrics, Gynecology, Radiotherapy, Surgery, Imaging and Radiology, Nuclear Medicine, and other related specialties.
Job Summary: To participate in organ imaging tests, including full skeletal, cardiac blood pool, and major vascular blood pool tests, and cysternograms utilizing gamma cameras, and/or stationary camera devices.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Carrying out diagnostic imaging and/or radiographic procedures to patients.
- Processing, verifying and maintaining information relating to patients
- Provide image pattern recognition services to requesting clinicians.
- Implementing radiation safety measures.
- Performing quality control activities and ensuring safety of imaging equipment in the unit.
- Ensuring safe custody of imaging supplies in the unit.
- Ordering and maintaining records of imaging supplies and accounting for allocated resources.
- Establishing and Co-coordinating procurement
- Participating in research activities.
- Implementing policies and regulations on medical imaging services in the unit.
- Supervising junior staff and/or students on attachment in the department.
- Perform any other duty as may be deemed necessary.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelors in either medical radiography, medical imaging or its equivalent from a recognized university or institution.
- Added training in Nuclear Medicine technology or a related healthcare field leading to award of a certificate/associate degree
- Must be registered with AHPC of Uganda and holds a valid gazetting certificate
- Experience: At least 2 years’ experience in CT scan.
