Yako Bank (U) Limited was incorporated in the Republic of Uganda in 2010 and licensed as a Credit Institution by Bank of Uganda in 2020. In September 2015, Yako got its license to operate as a deposit taking institution and started operations under the name Yako Microfinance (U) Limited. It upgraded to a Credit Institution in 2020 and was licensed to operate as Yako Bank (U) Limited. Yako Bank is owned by different shareholders and has been licensed by Bank of Uganda to provide savings and lending products to different clients.
Job Summary: To provide comprehensive human resource support across all HR functions including recruitment, staff records management, performance management, learning and development, and HR data analytics. The role will also support payroll processing, HR reporting, and the implementation of HR systems to ensure operational efficiency and compliance with Bank policies and procedures.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support the recruitment and selection process, including preparation of job adverts, shortlisting, interview scheduling, and onboarding documentation.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date staff records (both physical and digital) ensuring confidentiality and compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Generate HR data analytics reports using advanced Excel and HR systems to support management decision-making on staffing, performance, and payroll trends.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual HR reports and dashboards for management review.
- Support payroll preparation by validating attendance, overtime, leave, and other employee data in collaboration with the Accounts department.
- Coordinate staff performance management activities, including goal setting, performance tracking, and performance appraisal documentation.
- Support the implementation of learning and development initiatives, including maintaining training databases and tracking staff development plans.
- Participate in employee engagement activities, welfare programs, and staff communication initiatives to enhance workplace morale.
- Maintain and regularly update the HRIS (Human Resource Information System) to ensure accurate staff data management.
- Conduct HR compliance checks to ensure adherence to labor laws, internal policies, and regulatory guidelines.
- Provide administrative support to HR and Administration functions including logistics, leave management, and office operations.
- Prepare HR analytics reports on staff turnover, attendance, recruitment, and training ROI for management decision-making.
- Support disciplinary and grievance management procedures by ensuring timely documentation and reporting.
- Contribute to HR policy reviews, benchmarking, and process improvement initiatives.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Industrial Psychology, Business Administration, or a related field.
- At least 1–2 years of relevant HR experience, preferably in a banking or financial institution.
- Proficiency in Advanced Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, Dashboards, Data Analysis) and HR analytics tools.
- Strong knowledge of Uganda Labor Laws and HR best practices.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with integrity and discretion.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and reporting skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in data management.
