Infectious Diseases Institute (IDI) is an independently governed institute within the College of Health Sciences at Makerere University and has the mission “To strengthen health systems in Africa, with a strong emphasis on infectious diseases, through research and capacity development.” IDI has operations across Uganda as well as in a number of other African countries and has a staffing of over 1,000 managing multiple projects in research, clinical services, public health and training.
Job Summary: Responsible for sample transportation from lower health facilities to respective hubs, post office and deliver results in a timely manner ensuring high level of biosafety and bio security.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Pick client samples from designated IDI-MWHP supported health facilities and deliver them to the designated lab hub for testing.
- Pick results from the Laboratory hubs and deliver them to the respective peripheral health facilities.
- Ensure safety and security of client samples during transportation to the laboratory hubs for testing.
- Maintain utmost confidentiality and protection of client results and any other related information during transportation of results to the health facilities.
- Timely response and availability at the required facility whenever called upon to offer support.
- Ensure safety and security of the motor bike during after sample transportation process
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Uganda Certificate of Education
Person Specification
- Possession of full licensing and a riding permit as guided by the Traffic and road safety Act and any other relevant laws of Uganda.
- Ability to keep the motor bike in a road worthy condition as per stated requirements.
- A valid riding permit.
- Minimum of UCE qualification.
