Job Summary: As an Accountant at Faces Up Uganda, you will play a key role in ensuring sound financial management, compliance, and accountability across our NGO programs and projects. You will handle day-to-day accounting, reporting, and budgeting functions, while supporting our mission to empower young people through creative and social impact programs.
You will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reports for donors and management, supporting audits, and strengthening financial systems to enhance transparency and efficiency.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Record and process all financial transactions including receipts, payments, payroll, and advances using Zoho Books or other approved accounting software.
- Maintain an up-to-date general ledger and ensure proper documentation of all transactions in line with NGO accounting standards.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management and donor projects.
- Ensure timely filing and payment of all statutory obligations (PAYE, NSSF, WHT, VAT, etc.).
- Support budget preparation, monitoring, and variance analysis for ongoing projects.
- Reconcile bank accounts, petty cash, and project advances regularly.
- Support the development and review of financial policies, systems, and internal controls to ensure compliance with donor regulations and NGO best practices.
- Support external and internal audits by preparing schedules, reconciliations, and documentation as required.
- Provide financial guidance to program teams to ensure proper budgeting and financial accountability in project implementation.
- Assist in preparing donor financial reports in accordance with funding agreements.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
- CPA Level II or higher is an added advantage.
- At least 2–3 years of progressive experience in NGO accounting or financial management.
- Proven knowledge of NGO donor reporting, budget tracking, and grant accounting.
- Hands-on experience with Zoho accounting systems.
- Familiarity with Uganda tax laws and NGO compliance requirements.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and high integrity.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Working Conditions:
- Full-time position based in Kampala, Uganda.
