The Joint United Nations Programme on HIV and AIDS (UNAIDS) is the main advocate for accelerated, comprehensive and coordinated global action on the HIV/AIDS pandemic. The mission of UNAIDS is to lead, strengthen and support an expanded response to HIV and AIDS that includes preventing transmission of HIV, providing care and support to those already living with the virus, reducing the vulnerability of individuals and communities to HIV and alleviating the impact of the epidemic. UNAIDS seeks to prevent the HIV/AIDS epidemic from becoming a severe pandemic.
Job Summary: UNAIDS Uganda is seeking the help of an online volunteer to support in communications surrounding World AIDS Day 2025, 16 Days of Activism to End GBV, and a quarterly newsletter publication.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: UNAIDS Uganda is seeking the help of one online volunteer to create content for our social media pages on X (formerly Twitter) and LinkedIn. The volunteer will support our efforts in strategically showcasing messaging for World AIDS Day 2025, 16 Days of Activism to End Gender-based Violence (GBV), our national activities as well as expanding our reach to a global audience. The volunteer will review guidance documents provided by UNAIDS and create content in various formats (e.g. captions, infographics, photos, videos) using appropriate digital tools and adhering to corporate design guidelines.
In addition, the volunteer will support drafting the quarterly newsletter going out in December by writing a content piece on World AIDS Day and designing/layouting the final newsletter using a template in an online graphic design software (Canva). Finally, the volunteer will present their work to the UNAIDS Uganda and Tanzania country teams and compile a final report of their activities.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Required experience
- Experience drafting content for social media accounts on X (formerly Twitter) and LinkedIn
- Good written communication skills
- Knowledge of basic graphic design (ideally using Canva)
- Open to receiving guidance and participating in collaborative virtual sessions
- Experience in communication for human rights, health, and advocacy is an advantage
- Knowledge of the HIV/AIDS landscape in Uganda is an asset
- Languages
- English, Level: Fluent, Required
