About Project:
The GIZ project “Strengthening Socioeconomic Participation of Refugees and Host Communities in Northwestern Uganda (ParWest)” commissioned by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), aims to improve the socioeconomic participation of vulnerable refugees and host populations in the climate-change affected districts of Adjumani and Obongi. The programme aligns with Uganda’s progressive refugee policies and contributes to the BMZ Feminist Development Policy, Global Compact on Refugees (GCR), and Uganda’s National Development Plan III. The focus of the programme is to improve the socioeconomic participation of refugees and vulnerable host populations in select climate-affected districts in West Nile, Uganda. The Ministry of Local Government is the programme’s political partner (MoLG).
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support the access to MHPSS, anti-SGBV, and gender inclusivity activities of the programme
- Activity oversight for interventions, in collaboration with Programme Component Manager counterpart over implementing partners, needs identification for project planning and conceptualization, contract management, Monitoring an Evaluation oversight, financial management of activities/projects
- Development and design of new interventions
- Overseeing and steering of interventions jointly with other team members under supervision of Programme Manager
- Support programme engagement with the public and private sectors, and CSOs
- Close technical management and guidance of service providers, grant recipients, etc.
- Technical advice (capacity building) to project partners on relevant topics
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Completed university degree in social sciences, political science, anthropology, psychology, or a comparable field, as well as demonstrable professional experience.
- Knowledge of/experience in refugee/forced displacement contexts, particularly in the areas of Mental Health and Psychosocial Services, prevention of Sexual and Gender-Based Violence, gender inclusivity
- Demonstrable experience in project management
- Experience in promoting the social and/or economic integration and participation of refugees, ideally in collaboration with local communities
- Strong skills in collaborating with various stakeholders
- Excellent moderation, presentation, and communication skills
- Fluent English skills
Desirable:
- Experience with EU-funded projects
- Experience working in intercultural settings
- Independent, structured, and creative working style
- German language proficiency desired, but not mandatory
