About Organisation:

Uganda Cancer Institute (UCI) is an autonomous body under the Ministry of Health, established by the Uganda Cancer Institute Act, 2016. The Act mandates the Institute to manage and coordinate cancer care and cancer-related conditions across the country. UCI’s core functions include cancer treatment, prevention, research, and training in fields such as Oncology, Pediatrics, Gynecology, Radiotherapy, Surgery, Imaging and Radiology, Nuclear Medicine, and other related specialties.

Job Summary: To support the collection and dissemination of information in the Institution.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: The incumbent will be responsible to Senior Communication Officer for performing the following duties: –

  • Reviewing of media and picking out areas of concern to the institution
  • Developing high quality visual and written that reflects UCI’s new brand identity and values.
  • Managing and updating Digital platforms to ensure timely engagement with the public
  • Implementing public relations programs and supporting awareness campaigns for the Institution;
  • Drafting and submitting responses to public enquiries.
  • Disseminating materials (newsletters and brochures) for raising awareness about the Institution.
  • Providing support in internal communication and customer care.
  • Maintains a depository of records on press releases and other relevant communication materials relating to the Institution.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:




  • A Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication, journalism and information from a reputable University
  • Key competencies required for the post: The incumbent should have competences in: Concern for quality and standards; Ethics and integrity; Teamwork; Computer literacy; Written and oral communication skills; Time management and Records and information management; Report writing skills; Research; Customer focused with ability to decipher customer expectations.
