About Organisation:
Uganda Cancer Institute (UCI) is an autonomous body under the Ministry of Health, established by the Uganda Cancer Institute Act, 2016. The Act mandates the Institute to manage and coordinate cancer care and cancer-related conditions across the country. UCI’s core functions include cancer treatment, prevention, research, and training in fields such as Oncology, Pediatrics, Gynecology, Radiotherapy, Surgery, Imaging and Radiology, Nuclear Medicine, and other related specialties.
Job Summary: To manage the delivery of effective and efficient Internal medicine services at the Institute.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for ensuring efficient management of services in his/her specialization at the Uganda Cancer Institute.
- Supervise and mentor Medical Officers, Interns and other Health Professionals under him/her.
- Plan and coordinate the training programmes of Health Professionals under him/her.
- Plan and coordinate Continuous Professional Development (CPD) in his/her specialty, for Health professionals at the Uganda Cancer Institute.
- Provide technical and professional advice in his/her area of specialization to Government and the Institution.
- Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- MBChB or its equivalent from a recognized University or Institution.
- A Master of Medicine Degree in Internal Medicine or its equivalent from a recognized University or Institution.
- Must be willing to undertake training in Oncology
- Registration with the Uganda Medical and Dental Practitioners Council.
- Key competencies required for the post: The incumbent should have competences in: Strategic thinking; Financial management; Planning, organizing and coordinating; Human resource management; Leadership and teamwork; Accountability; Concern for quality and standards; Knowledge management and Results-oriented management.
